🎃✨ Even though last night’s live was cut short due to some technical hiccups, I still had an absolute blast finishing this project! 🙌 I’m so excited to display this Hocus Pocus-inspired piece in my home. 🧙‍♀️🖤

Hocus Pocus has always been one of my favorite Halloween memories with my mom, and this project just gives me all the warm, fuzzy feelings. 🧡💜💛

Check out this fun Halloween project I created, inspired by the incredibly talented Brenda Durrant! 🎃👻 I loved the way Brenda's design captured the spooky yet playful vibe of Halloween, so I put my own twist on it. I used a mix of techniques to bring these little ghosts and bats to life on wood panels, adding a touch of whimsy with the "Trick or Treat" lettering. The details, like the flying bats and the cute ghost feet, really make this piece pop. It’s the perfect addition to my Halloween decor! Thanks, Brenda, for the amazing inspiration!

Thank you to everyone who joined our live last night! You may have noticed some challenges we faced using Dixie Belle Crackle for our project. After reaching out to various companies and doing some research, here’s what I found:

👉🏻 Dry Time: Allowing the piece to dry overnight resulted in a flawless application with our transfers. Patience is key!!!

👉🏻Paint Choice: I discovered that the paint I was using, Dylusions Paint by Dyan Reaveley, is designed for heavy watercolor mixed media and scrapbook projects. It's meant to be used on watercolor paper, which absorbs a lot of the liquid, allowing for manipulation. On slick surfaces like wood, it takes much longer to dry because it isn't formulated for that purpose. This is true for many scrapbook paints. Cracks can range from subtle to exaggerated depending on the type of paint or plaster topcoat. Crackle Tex works best with ultra-matte, flat, mineral and clay-based waterborne paints/plasters.

👉🏻Crackle Medium Tips:
👉🏻👉🏻 Layer Drying: Crackle medium performs best when dried between layers. Make sure each layer is fully dry before applying the next.

👉🏻👉🏻Avoid Hair Dryers: It’s recommended not to use a hairdryer for drying crackle medium. Let it dry naturally for the best results.

👉🏻👉🏻Tools: Tools and application methods vary the type of cracks produced. For controlled crack patterns – Using a brush, apply Crackle Tex and paint layer in linear strokes. For irregular crack patterns- Using a brush, apply Crackle Tex and paint Layer in haphazard strokes. For smaller irregular, “web-like”, crack patterns

👉🏻👉🏻Pressure: Avoid excessive pressure and over-brushing the topcoat of paint/plaster. Early-appearing cracks can accidentally be painted/smoothed over by overworking topcoat layers.
