🎶We get by with a little help from our friends! 🎶

For the fourth year in a row, we've adopted a Transitions family for the holidays, enjoying the chance to fulfill their Christmas wish list - plus some! It's a joy to play Santa, shopping for everything from the practical to the playful, granting the wishes of a (selfless) mom and her four kiddos. 🤶🎁

🤗 BIG Thanks to our friends Water Wise Spokane and Zero Emissions Northwest for helping wrap the pile of gifts at record speed! It's our collective joy to be able to share the bounty of the season with a local family in our community.

Happy Holidays, one and all! 🥰🧡✨

Sustainability: it's in our nature!

This year, for our holiday celebration, went on an adventure to Global Neighborhood Thrift & Vintage, using a gift card we'd won at a silent auction at Manzanita House's Garden Party event last summer. The treasures within were numerous, from the vintage to the modern, cozy to the bedazzled - there is something for everyone at this Spokane gem. 🎁

Not only is this a truly outstanding secondhand shop, Global Neighborhood Thrift provides employment to refugees, as well as FREE English classes for refugees in our community. So far, they've employed folks from more than 30 countries! 🎉

A wonderful, festive time was had by all, and we left with some fun, new-to-us looks while lightening our impact on the planet. 🧡🌎

Processing loss is different for everyone. In hearing of Deb's passing, my mind raced through the years of admiration for this force of a woman - her warmth, authenticity, and vision! And of course, her AMAZING coffee at Roast House that you could feel DAMN GOOD supporting, because every bit of her business was driven by her strong values.

She was a difference maker committed to sustainable business and supportive community. She inspired and swore and gave fearlessly.

The unforgettable first time I met her, in 2017, she was consulting with SNAP and Cedar Coffee to JOYFULLY help them set up their new coffee shop for success. Her generosity and vision were a demonstration of mentorship and "coopertition," and she illustrated the ecosystem of GOOD BUSINESS so naturally. 🧡

Sharing stories holds so much power for healing & celebrating a life well lived... and we hope sharing her voice and these moments of heartfelt reflection with Deb can add to our community's processing, as we all raise an F-Bomb in her memory. Cheers to you, Deb! Thanks for being awesome.

✨ Last week, we were in Bothell with our friends from Water Wise Spokane presenting at the Pacific Northwest Social Marketing Association SPARKS conference ✈️... Celebrating the impact of thoughtful campaigns for positive behavior change!

Titled "Self Competition for the Win," Megan & Kristen's presentation highlighted the empowered motivation of competing against oneself, and spoke to the awesome results of these past five years of the Water Wise Challenge here in Spokane. 💪💧

(Spoiler alert: We've seen 306 participating Spokane Households save over 2.8 million gallons of water through the Challenge! 🎉)

It was a joy to share the work with such an engaged, social-marketing-savvy group, and the conference was full of inspiring speakers and valuable learning - we're already looking forward to next year. Thanks for having us, PNSMA - see y'all again soon!

Flashback to 2021 - what was Janessa dreaming up in her first days with ? 💜 We can hardly believe it's been 3 years of shared adventures already - from achieving B Corp certification, to spouting water wisedom, to strengthening community & team shenanigans alike - Janessa is a huge part of keeping our creativity fun and flowing!

For Janessa's workiversary, she's picked MiA - Mujeres in Action to receive the $100 donation in her honor!

"In Spokane, one in every three women and one in every 10 men experience domestic abuse (SRHD). One of the most difficult things a person can do is leave their abuser. The hurdles survivors face are numerous, and can often feel insurmountable - especially if English isn't your primary language.

I am so thankful that organizations like Mujeres in Action exist in our community, to help Spanish-speaking domestic violence and/or sexual assault survivors navigate the journey, to help them start fresh lives free of abuse, and to help uplift these brave people. MiA needs our help to continue making an impact on Spokane, and I am honored to be able to help further their mission." - Janessa

Thank you, Janessa, for being an amazing human and for all that you bring of yourself to this values-driven work together. Cheers to YOU! 🌈🌦️

Continuing the spirit once more this week, we're shining the spotlight on our dear friends at MiA - Mujeres in Action.

It was our honor and joy to work with Eunice as she shared her story of breaking free from domestic violence. Not only is she a survivor, she's now a proud part of the MiA team AND is a newly naturalized United States citizen & voter! 🎉 We thank MiA for entrusting us with their story and their clients' stories. It takes a lot of courage and grit to navigate these systems as a survivor, and we're so grateful to MiA for providing needed services in our local community. 🧡

Election day is tomorrow! ✅ We are holding onto the joy of working on the "¡Mi Voto, Mi Voz!" campaign, connecting with passionate voters from MiA - Mujeres in Action, Asians for Collective Liberation in Spokane, and the Spectrum Center Spokane to inspire others to use their voices, too! 📣

Check out all the voices behind MiA's campaign:
myvotespokane.org/voter-engagement-psa

Deadline for ballots to be received or postmarked is TOMORROW, November 5 at 8PM. Don't forget - vote today! 🧡

11/01/2024

📢 Your voice matters. Exercise your right to vote by casting your ballot by Election Day on Tuesday! ☑️📮🇺🇸

We had the joy of supporting MiA - Mujeres in Action on their grant-funded voter engagement campaign - the six PSAs are presented bilingually in Español & English - and the Spanish videos are breaking barriers in our community, airing on a station that (formerly) held a policy of only airing English content. 😦

This is also the first year we've had the voter pamphlet in Spanish - Thank you for your hard work and advocacy, MiA Team, and for making such strides for Language Access in Spokane! 🧡 💪 ✨
