Can we start holding excavation companies to normal plumbing standards? This is the second sewer we’ve had to fix this month that should not have needed to be fixed!

1. They always just cap the cleanout then bury it sub grade.

2. This particular line- full pipe backgrade, backs up often.

3. One we did two weeks ago had 2 sewer lines coming out the house, on the septic abandonment/reversal they just left one tied into the existing septic and didn’t fill the septic tank.

4. Often I see huge dimples in the SDR-35 pipe from them not bedding the pipe and backfilling with masive rocks.

It’s just sad to see people have to pay to have something fixed that they already payed someone to do. I’m sure there are some good excavators, but it seems the more problematic sewer lines we come across were installed by excavation companies.

This was a first for us, we didn’t have any windows that we could pull our HDPE line through, so we fused 10’ at a time then burst 10’. It worked out pretty slick! Beat lugging the bursting equipment down some sketchy stairs into the basement! What’s the most odd place you have had to fuse pipe?
