Thanks to your incredible support, we’ve officially surpassed the halfway point toward BOTH our new donor and donation goals for NewsMatch! 🥳

Today is Giving Tuesday or as we like to call it, Giving News Day, and we need your help!

Today and through the end of the year, all donations will be matched 2:1 thanks to the generous support of The Institute for Nonprofit News’ NewsMatch program and a matching grant from The Owen County Community Foundation.

Even better yet, any monthly pledge will be matched for the entire year! This means that a commitment of $5 per month will be matched at the full year’s total of $60.

Still need to sweeten the deal? A donation of $5 per month gets you the ability to have the paper mailed directly to you. It’s still free (though donations are always appreciated) for pick up and to read online, but enjoy the perk of the paper coming straight to you while knowing that you’re supporting local news in our community.

We’ve said from the start — our success is a testament to the strength of our community. And we need your support to reach our goal of receiving the entire $15,000 match with 50 new donors. Every dollar counts! Our goal is to hire staff and expand to twice monthly by the middle of 2025!

You can give online at: https://owencountycf.fcsuite.com/erp/donate?sorg_id=1033

or by mailing a donation to The Owen News at:
114 S. Main St.
Spencer, IN 47460

Want to sign up as a member but pay by check monthly? No problem, let us know when mailing your first check!

🚧👷‍♂️ Our McCormick's Creek Elementary third graders are getting hands-on learning experience in construction!

With the construction of the new transportation building next door, students are getting a front-row seat to see what goes into a major project. Each month, Project Manager Dana Geldoff leads them through an interactive lesson, and this month’s focus was a fun fact about the work crew.

What an incredible opportunity for our future builders, engineers, and innovators!
