RCWD issues contracts for UVDC wells

The Rancho California Water District has a Conjunctive Use Optimization Program for the district’s Upper Valle de Los Caballos recharge and recovery facility, and the optimization program includes four new production wells. One of those wells has already been constructed, and a pair of December 12 RCWD board votes approved contracts for the other three wells.

MWD awards contract for Lake Skinner Dam drainage control improvements

The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California has given Heed Engineering a contract to construct new drainage control improvements at the Lake Skinner dam.The MWD board awarded a $588,000 contract to Heed Engineering, which is based in Foothills Ranch, during the board’s December 10 meeting. The board also found the work on the existing facility to be categorically exempt from California Environmental Quality Act review.MWD obtains water from the Colorado River Aqueduct which transports water from Parker to Lake Mathews and from the State Water Project which brings water from Oroville to Lake Skinner.

Impacted residents have until January 8 to report their food loss RIVERSIDE COUNTY —Residents who lost food bought with CalFresh benefits due to recent Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) have until January 8, 2025 to report the loss and receive replacement benefits.State officials estimate just over 315,000 people in Riverside and Los Angeles counties, who received more than $37 million in CalFresh benefits, may have lost food starting Dec. 9 because of the Franklin Fire and subsequent PSPS-related events.

Sheriff requests help to solve Aguanga mass murder case

On January 3, Riverside Sheriff Chad Bianco held a press conference to request help from the public regarding the September 7, 2020, Aguanga mass murder.

Central Homicide Unit investigators began the investigation into the mass murder that occurred in the 45000 block of Highway 371, Aguanga. A total of seven victims were shot to death while they slept in what appeared to be a home invasion robbery of an illicit ma*****na operation. Over 1,000 ma*****na plants and several hundred pounds of processed ma*****na were located at the scene. All of the victims were of Laotian descent. Money that would have been expected to have been at the scene was missing.

As the reorganized Menifee City Council met for the first time, a long-awaited decision on what will become the ill-fated Krikorian Movie Theater’s aging retail buildings was made at the December 17 regular meeting.
