❄️ CCS UPDATE: Remote Learning for Friday, Jan. 24, 2025 ❄️

Due to icy road conditions, Cumberland County Schools (CCS) will have an asynchronous remote learning day on Friday, Jan. 24, 2025. While many main roads are clear, several side roads remain unsafe for travel, and temperatures are expected to stay below freezing through mid-morning.

Key Details:
* Students will complete assignments independently at home.
* All district events and after-school activities scheduled for Friday are canceled.
* The Prime Time Before and After School Program will not operate.
* All weekend activities are canceled.

Our administration has thoroughly checked road conditions and consulted with Scotland County Emergency Management, and we are pleased to report significant improvements to our roads overall, so for Friday, January, Scotland County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay for both students and staff.
Two-Hour Delay Schedule:
Elementary: 10:00 am - 2:30 pm
Middle: 10:30 am - 3:25 pm
SHS: 9:40 am - 2:40 pm
Shaw: 10:30 am - 3:25 pm
SEarCH: 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
Central Office: 9:30 am - 4:30 pm
However, with the forecasted cold temperatures for tomorrow morning, we encourage families to ensure that students are dressed warmly and bundled up while waiting at the bus stop.

One other change that we want you to be aware of - report cards were scheduled to be sent home tomorrow. We have rescheduled report cards to now go home with our students on Wednesday, January 29.

Due to lingering snow and ice expected to refreeze overnight on many secondary roads and neighborhoods, as well as the potential for black ice on bridges and roadways, Lee County Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay for students and staff on Friday, January 24, 2025.

Due to road conditions, Lee County Schools will continue with remote learning on Thursday, January 23, 2025 for students and staff. While many main roads experienced some melting, numerous secondary roads, neighborhood streets, and school parking lots remain too dangerous for safe travel.

There will be no live instruction for students on this remote learning day. Students will have five days to complete assignments to receive credit for the day.

Staff members should consult with their immediate supervisors regarding any work to be completed from home.

Due to possible inclement weather, Sandhills Community College is canceling all evening events beginning at 5:00 today, Tuesday, January 21, on both the Moore and Hoke County campuses.

Wednesday, January 22
Due to the forecasted inclement weather, classes scheduled for Wednesday, January 22, are canceled at the Hoke and Moore County campuses. Students need to log into Moodle to get class assignment information. Additionally, employees should plan to come to campus, work remotely, or take annual leave for Wednesday.
