Fear of 𝘃𝘂𝗹𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, being 𝗷𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗲𝗱, and 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘂𝗿𝗲 are some of the fears that kept me from starting out a new business, especially a creative one.

Each proposal, design, and idea is an open door for criticism and rejection. BUT if you don’t try you don’t fly. Am I right!? Learning how to accept criticism that will transcend your skills to the next level is crucial in growth.

With each new client and design I’m learning to open those doors of vulnerability and gain more confidence to climb out on that limb.

But in reality, it feels like I’ve been preparing for this chapter my whole life. Starting at a very young age my love for design and eye for aesthetics was extraordinary. Having a degree in Merchandising & Marketing from SCAD doesn’t hurt, but it’s the years of real life experiences I’ve acquired that makes this more fulfilling. It’s like finding the missing piece to a puzzle, left unfinished for years. Each one of these experiences has crafted me into the Designer & Marketing specialist that I am today.

Right out of high school I began working at our family manufacturing facility designing updated marketing materials and aiding in a more cohesive brand identity. Modeling, and later becoming a Fashion Assistant for a local magazine, taught me about lighting, posing, and composition in photography. As a Retail Manager I learned how to motivate and coach others to reach their top performance, and meet or exceed sales goals, all while developing a high level of standards for Customer Service. As a buyer and merchandiser for e-commerce I learned about product photography, web analytics and the importance of SEO. Real Estate, with its entrepreneurial structure, taught me how to run a business and how to market myself both on social media and within my local community. Being a Realtor was as close to the mark as I’d thought I’d find, until today.

After years of being a stay at home mom of two wonderful kiddos I felt the calling to find another extension of my identity. To fulfill my need for creativity and ownership. So, I started to visualize myself doing all the things I loved. I wrote lists and tried to find connections from my past experiences to lead me to my next endeavor. Then it happened… I got a phone call for help.

I always thought of myself as a “Jack of all Trades,” but it turns out it took all of those experiences to become a master (ok, not quite master) of one. The one!

Don’t give up! Don’t quit! Keep trucking down the line, you never know what’s up ahead. ✌🏻 🤍

Before the design work begins a 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆 should be in place. Like a map, a solid brand strategy should create a clear direction to your brand’s identity. From your logos, to your color story, to your presence on social media. Establishing a clear strategy in the beginning alleviates confusing your target audience and maintains a consistent, engaging message across all platforms.
