𝐌𝐚𝐡𝐚 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐯𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐢:

Today, 8 th March, marks the celebration of Mahashivratri., which is one of the most auspicious festivals in the Hindu religion. This great festival commemorates the convergence of Shiva and Shakti.
Devotees visit temples, worship Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati, chant mantras and prayers, prepare bhogs, observe fasts and wish for Lord Shiva's blessings.
There are many legends associated with this holy Hindu festival:

𝐌𝐚𝐡𝐚 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐯𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐢 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲:

One of the holiest Hindu festivals, Maha Shivratri, commemorates Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati's marriage and many other cosmic events related to him.
According to Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva married Maa Shakti, his divine consort, for a second time on this night. It is in celebration of their divine union that the day is celebrated as 'The Night of Lord Shiva'. While Lord Shiva signifies Purusha - which is mindfulness, Maa Parvati signifies Prakriti - which is nature. The union of this consciousness and energy promotes creation.
Another legend says that during the creation of the universe, Lord Shiva was incarnated as Lord Rudra during the midnight of Maha Shivaratri with the grace of Lord Brahma. It is also believed that on this night, Lord Shiva performed his cosmic dance of creation, preservation and destruction when he heard the news of his consort Maa Sati's immolation. This heavenly dance is known as Rudra Tandav among his devotees.

According to Drink Panchang, during the churning of the great ocean, poison came out of the sea. It had the power to destroy the whole creation. However, Lord Shiva drank the poison and saved the whole world from annihilation. Hence, Maha Shivaratri is observed by Lord Shiva's devotees to thank him for preserving the universe.

She began her career at Goldman Sachs as an investment banker but later switched tracks to pursue a career in writing. She’s led a team of copy writers at a burgeoning creative agency, written for Bollywood and presently works as a Senior Marketing Manager at a London based Company in the Ed Tech industry.

Today, 8th March marks the celebration of ‘Holi’, the ‘Festival of Colours’, in India .

Holi is the second most famous and widely celebrated festival in India. According to the Hindu calendar, Holi falls on the last full moon of winter. Traditionally, it is celebrated in the northern parts of India, but it is now popular across the country.

The celebrations are often separated into two days, known as Jalanewali Holi and Rangwali Holi:

Jalanewali Holi or Choti Holi is the day when friends and family gather after sunset to light a bonfire and sometimes throw grains, popcorn and chickpeas into the fire during rituals.

Rangwali Holi is the second day of the festival and celebrates the beginning of spring, in which people come together to play with coloured powder and water.

In many regions, the Holi festival heralds the passing of the cold winter season and the advent of warmer weather, but it also celebrates the victory of good over evil.
In Mathura, in northern India, people observe Holi as a celebration of the love between the Hindu god Krishna and his lady love, Radha, and reenact scenes from their lives

The traditions and celebrations are largely inspired by the stories behind it. One of the most popular stories is that of :
The ‘Story of Holika and Prahlad’ - the ‘Holika Dahan Legend.’

The legend of Prahlad and the Demoness Holika (who is the namesake of the festival, Holi being derived from the name Holika) is one of the most important and well-known Indian legends.

According to a legend, the demon king Hiranyakashipu was granted five magical powers of protection, by virtue of penance, which he believed would make him immortal. Hence he forced his subjects to worship him as God. However, his son Prahlad refused to do so and instead stayed true to his adoration of the God, Vishnu. Infuriated by this Hiranyakashipu attempted to kill his son many a times, but failed miserably.

According to a legend, Hiranyakashyipu , the King of demons’, demanded that everyone worship him as God . But his son, Prahlad, opposed him, which infuriated him. Hence, Hiranyakashyipu devised many evil plans to kill his son, but he failed miserably each time.
During one such attempt, Hiranyakashyipu
conspired with his demoness sister Holika and devised a plan to kill Prahlad. Holika had a special cloak that could protect her from fire. So, she planned to sit in the giant bonfire with Prahlad, and then remove Prahlad from the cloak and expose him to the flames. However, her plan failed and the cloak flew from Holika to Prahlad, thus protecting the righteous son, leaving the evil Holika to burn in the flames.
Hence Holi celebrates the victory of good over evil!

𝐏𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐞-𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐢𝐫( Feb 25 1841- Dec 3 1919) was a 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐡 artist and a leading painter of the Impressionist style. As a young boy, he worked in a porcelain factory. His drawing skills were early recognized, and he was soon employed to create designs on fine china. He also painted decorations on fans before beginning art school .

𝐇𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝟏𝟖𝟔𝟐 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐲 𝐚𝐫𝐭, 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐭 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜 𝐁𝐚𝐳𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞, 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐝𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐭, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐥𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐢𝐬𝐥𝐞𝐲, 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 By 1864, he was exhibiting works at the Paris Salon, but his works went largely unnoticed for the next ten years, mostly in part to the disorder caused by the Franco-Prussian War.

Later, during the Paris Commune on 1871, Renoir was painting on the banks of the Seine River, when he was approached by a number of members from the commune, who thought he was a spy. They threatened to throw in into the river, but he was saved by the leader of the commune, Raoul Rigault, whom he had protected on an earlier occasion.

He experienced his first artistic success in 1874, at the first Impressionist Exhibition, and later in London of the same year. In 1881, Renoir began his world travels, voyaging to Italy to see the works of the Renaissance masters, and later to Algeria, following in the footsteps of Eugene Delacroix. It was in Algeria where he encountered a serious bout with pneumonia, leaving him bed ridden for six weeks, and permanently damaging his respiratory system.

In the later years of his life, despite having severe rheumatoid arthritis that left him confined to a wheelchair and limited his movement, Renoir continued to paint. His arthritis eventually permanently deformed his hands and shoulder, which required him to change his painting technique to adapt to his physical limitations.

Before his death in 1919, Renoir traveled to the 𝐋𝐨𝐮𝐯𝐫𝐞 to see his paintings hanging in the museum alongside the masterpieces of the great masters. He was a prolific artist, created several thousands artworks in his lifetime, and include some of the most well-known paintings in the art world.

Today, 18th February,marks the celebration of Mahashivratri., which is one of the most auspicious festivals in the Hindu religion. This great festival commemorates the convergence of Shiva and Shakti.
Devotees visit temples, worship Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati, chant mantras and prayers, prepare bhogs, observe fasts and wish for Lord Shiva's blessings.
There are many legends associated with this holy Hindu festival:

𝐌𝐚𝐡𝐚 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐯𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐢 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲:

One of the holiest Hindu festivals, Maha Shivratri, commemorates Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati's marriage and many other cosmic events related to him.
According to Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva married Maa Shakti, his divine consort, for a second time on this night. It is in celebration of their divine union that the day is celebrated as 'The Night of Lord Shiva'. While Lord Shiva signifies Purusha - which is mindfulness, Maa Parvati signifies Prakriti - which is nature. The union of this consciousness and energy promotes creation.
Another legend says that during the creation of the universe, Lord Shiva was incarnated as Lord Rudra during the midnight of Maha Shivaratri with the grace of Lord Brahma. It is also believed that on this night, Lord Shiva performed his cosmic dance of creation, preservation and destruction when he heard the news of his consort Maa Sati's immolation. This heavenly dance is known as Rudra Tandav among his devotees.

According to Drink Panchang, during the churning of the great ocean, poison came out of the sea. It had the power to destroy the whole creation. However, Lord Shiva drank the poison and saved the whole world from annihilation. Hence, Maha Shivaratri is observed by Lord Shiva's devotees to thank him for preserving the universe.
