We love to see the process of creating a cover design of one of our 2025 High Note Planners. 😍 Thank you @jessraephoenix for sharing this video! 🎥 @jessraephoenix Repost: @jessraephoenix Everything starts with a sketch 🌸 And then sometimes (hopefully) your sketch becomes a piece of artwork that just... works! It’s impossible to plan for it happening though 😅 So many things have to work out correctly, especially color. For this pattern, even though I had the structure loosely in my mind when I created it, I didn’t land on the colors until quite later. I honed the colors for the @pbsfabrics collection, and it worked so well that eventually @sellerspublishing decided to use it for one of their 2025 Soft Cover Planners (which you can buy now!) I’ve always said, one of the reasons I started developing my art is because I longed to see my art on THINGS. It’s super satisfying to hold something in your hands that you helped make ❤️ What sort of things could you see this pattern being on next? . . Available now wherever calendars are sold! 📸 @jessraephoenix #repost A (heavily edited) look at my process 🌸 I often get asked about how I make my artwork, and I mentioned a little about it in my last post. But I figured I should actually show you some of the elements I mentioned. - I start with making a good old-fashioned pencil sketch on paper - Then I take tracing paper and use markers to draw out every element of the piece — washy, somewhat transparent markers for the leaves/flowers, and a black brush pen for the stems and gold details - I take everything, scan it, and compose and color it in Photoshop. This part I didn’t show in the video because it’s not as easy to capture... but I might try to show it someday 😊 - If I love the piece I’ll sometimes add it as a print in my shop at jessphoenix.com - And if I’m REALLY lucky, a cool company like @sellerspublishing asks to license it for one of their 2024 High Note® planners.
