* At 133 PM EDT/1233 PM CDT/, a severe thunderstorm was located over
Jasper, moving east at 20 mph.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage
to roofs, siding, and trees.

Chattanooga, Jasper, Signal Mountain, South Pittsburg, Walden,
Whitwell, Kimball, Ridgeside, Fairmount, and Red Bank.
This includes Interstate 75 in Tennessee near mile marker 1.

At 114 PM EDT/1214 PM CDT/, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7 miles northwest of Kimball, or 8 miles northwest of Jasper, moving east at 35 mph.
HAZARD…..Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail.
SOURCE…Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible.
Locations impacted include…. Chattanooga, Jasper, Soddy-Daisy, Signal Mountain, South Pittsburg, Walden, Whitwell, Kimball, Ridgeside, and Fairmount.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 700 PM EDT/600 PM CDT/ for east Tennessee.
3:45pm Weather Update: Storms are slowly making their way past us as the Severe Thunderstorm Warning expires for Marion County. Those south of Marion and Hamilton in North GA and NE AL should be prepared for strong straight line winds and heavy downpours with lots of lightning as it moves into your area. Be careful on the roads as we have reports of many downed limbs and a few trees. If you see any road hazards or blocks from downed limbs, trees, or lines, please let us know by posting in the comments below.
A strong line of thunderstorms is moving into our area in the next 60 to 90 minutes… Heavy rain, strong gusty wind and straight line winds, along with frequent cloud-to-ground lightning. Marion, Sequatchie, Bledsoe and Hamilton Counties in Tennessee are under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 10pm CDT. Counties in Northeast Alabama and North Georgia are also under a Watch this evening. Stay weather aware and we’ll post any updates as needed!
