TWW was well-represented at the inaugural Tahoe Literary Festival! Huge thanks to Kat and Priya who organized the event, all the hard-working volunteers, and the TWW writers and friends who attended. Those who couldn't make it, swung by Made in Tahoe to see Bruce and Lisa Michelle—hectic but fun weekend. Looking forward to next year's festival!

FRACTURED LIT MICRO PRIZE:

Fractured Lit has always been a place that celebrates the use of writing craft to tell small stories with big impacts. In the return of our Micro Prize, we want to honor stories of 400 words or fewer that tell a complete story and have us marveling at the depth of character and language. We’re looking for microfictions that demand more than one reading, invite us into their small containers, and awe us with the mysteries of being human.

October 15, 2024

Slope & Basin is a regional literary journal publishing poetry and prose from writers based in El Dorado County. The journal's name embraces both the Western Slope of the Sierra Nevada and the Lake Tahoe Basin, reflecting our commitment to writers and readers in every corner of our County. We believe that the works collected in Slope & Basin will make our community more legible to itself.

Tahoma Literary Review Submissions Are Open

TLR's current reading period is open now until October 15. We are reading for fiction, nonfiction, and poetry for our third online issue, due out in Spring 2025.

Each reading period we offer a fixed number of complimentary submissions for writers from historically marginalized groups. This time around we reached our monthly cap early in September, but on October 1 we'll raise the cap and reopen complimentary submissions. See our guidelines for more information.

For this next issue we introduced a new pay rate for prose. We now offer $0.05 a word for fiction and nonfiction up to 6,000 words. Our pay rates for flash and poetry remain the same ($55 for flash and for poetry), but our flash word limit is now 1100 words (it was 1200 before).

In short, our new pay schema is
Poetry: $55
Flash fiction and nonfiction, up to 1100 words: $55
Fiction and nonfiction prose, 1,101 - 6,000 words: $0.05 per word.

See our submission guidelines for details.
