Migrating Microsoft Teams from one tenant to another can be done quickly and easily. I have prepared this article and video walkthrough to show exactly how it is done, using the MigrationWiz toolset.

I take you through all the configuration and preparation steps for the Teams migration showing every step along the way. The topics covered in the video are;

* Setup of the permissions needed on both the Source and Target tenant
* Creation of the User Account and Security group required for the MigrationWiz project

* Autodiscovery of the source Teams and adding them into the project
* Renaming a destination Team
* Performing the various passes required for the scaffolding, permissions, data & membership
* Discuss and demonstrate the user mappings and differences in the UPN's that can occur

Migrating Microsoft 365 Tenant to Tenant with Free Native Tools.

In my latest article and video I show how this can be done. Using a Real World migration and showing the entire process end to end you can see whether this approach would work for your migrations.

I take you through all the steps;

* Setup of the Security Group needed to scope the migration
* Configuration of the App Registrations required in the Tenants to allow the connections
* Organization Relationship setup
* Creation of Mail Users to prepare the target
* Stamping of the objects with the Exchange GUID's to bind the identities
* Creation of the migration batches
* Syncing and Completing the migration batches
* Forwarding and Mail Routing for both source/target accounts pre/post migration
* Moving the underlying domain name from one tenant to another
* Adding aliases to the new tenant

All the PowerShell that I use is in the article for you to copy/paste in your own migrations.

Importantly you can decide if a paid toolset is more appropriate or you are happy with the PowerShell and Native GUI approach.

Effective use of these three technologies is vital to ensure that your emails stay out of peoples junk/spam folders, are recognized as coming from their legitimate source, and phishers/spammers cannot spoof your email addresses.

As we look to close out 2022 and bring on 2023, it gives us some time to reflect on the year. To spend time with family and friends, BUT, if you are looking for something to do then check out my latest article and video series. It shows how to migrate from Google Suite/Workspace into Microsoft 365. Both the Email and the Drive components using nothing but the FREE native tools in M365.

OK, you all know me, my work with the migration toolsets, especially the ones that I have an architecture role in. I am not looking to replace them, as they have a valid place in complex migrations, however there are some migrations that can be achieved with the native tools. This video set is to show you what can be achieved with those free tools, allowing you to evaluate how your migration can be done.

I take a Google tenant and migrate it to Microsoft 365 showing all the steps I take, all the errors/fixes that happen along the way and keep them in the video!

My Microsoft 365 Discovery Tool just had an update. I have added an additional report that will show all the channel membership of all the Microsoft Teams, including Private/Public/Shared. Handy if you are auditing or getting ready for a migration.
