I’m beyond excited to share that P. Muellen & Associates has a brand-new site!

I’ve poured every spare second into this project, time-blocking and committing to getting it done exactly the way I envisioned. When you're inside looking out, it can be hard to see your own brand clearly. That was my struggle, I wanted something that truly reflected my business, my personality, so I could bring in the clients I want to attract.

Don’t get me wrong, I loved my old site. I built it on a builder seven years ago, and at the time, it served me well! But after years of building websites for my clients, growing my expertise in WordPress, and refining my skills, I started feeling like my own site didn’t reflect my level of work anymore. That little imposter syndrome started creeping in.

Not anymore. ✨ Now, I have a site I’m proud of, one that represents my business, my expertise, and my brand. No more apologizing for working on everyone else's sites while neglecting my own!

🚨 Missing Google Reviews? Don’t Panic! 🚨

If you’ve noticed your Google review count looking off, you’re not alone. This has happened to my profile and I’ve been looking into this after hearing from multiple clients, it turns out it’s happening to a LOT of businesses right now.

Google seems to be filtering or removing reviews, and not just the spammy ones. Even legit reviews are disappearing. It looks like a glitch, and the good news? Google knows about it and is working on a fix, yay!

What you can do:
✅ Double-check your review count to confirm any missing ones.
✅ Reach out to Google Support via Facebook (I know, sometimes they actually respond there but i've had better luck with their customer service through your profile).
✅ Hang tight, if your reviews follow Google’s guidelines, they should return.

I know how frustrating this is when every review is so stinkin hard to get. Just know I’m on top of it and keeping an eye out for updates. If you need help navigating this, reach out!

Got a Full deck? I've got two! 🃏
What you're looking at is the bounty from one incredible networking event this morning. A gathering I almost skipped because I've been to town everyday this week and let’s face it, mornings and driving into town doesn't feel like a vibe. 😅
But I’m so glad I pushed through!
14 cards, 14 emails, 14 thoughtful follow-ups already sent. Why? Because follow-up is where the magic happens. It’s the difference between sitting in a pile on someone’s desk and getting business DONE.
And guess what? 2 new prospect appointments booked by this afternoon. 🙌
Lesson of the week: Show up, follow up, and watch the results stack up. Here’s to ending this week on a high note!

UNPOPULAR OPINION: Likes don’t pay the bills—sales do! 💰 Focus on strategies that convert, not just vanity metrics.

Here are 5 ways to ensure your marketing messages actually convert:

1️⃣ Know your audience: Speak to their pain points and desires.
2️⃣ Clear calls-to-action (CTA): Don’t leave them guessing—tell them exactly what to do next.
3️⃣ Test your visuals: Eye-catching content grabs attention and stops the scroll.
4️⃣ Track your data: Numbers don’t lie. Keep an eye on what works.

If you’re blaming someone else for what happens in your business, you’re already losing.

It doesn’t matter who messed up—it’s your company, your responsibility. No one wants to hear excuses. NO ONE, and I mean that literally, nobody respects a leader who throws their own team under the bus.

Things will go wrong. It happens to all of us. But how you handle it? That’s what makes the difference.

👉 Take ownership.
👉 Fix the problem.
👉 Learn from it and move on.

That’s leadership. No blame, no drama—just stepping up and doing the right thing.

The absolute BEST ADVICE I’ve ever received for running my business is:

Have an accountant file your taxes🧾.
I've found that to be very true and I've been audited before so now I listen. Seems fitting that my annual tax packet just arrived. 😅
Also along those lines, OUTSOURCE what you can to the pros and stick to what you're good at.

DID YOU KNOW THERE'S A FREELANCER PROTECTION ACT?

I literally just learned about this passing in both states. The only thing I've ever agreed with Illinois and California on is they both have The Freelance Worker Protection Acts providing basic protections, including:

MANDATORY CONTRACTS: Any freelancer performing over $250 of work for a hiring entity over a four month period is entitled to a contract outlining the scope of the work expected, the rate of pay, and the method of payment. Boom! 💥

30-DAY PAYMENT TERMS: Clients must pay their freelancers on due date or within 30 days of completion of work unless otherwise specified in the contract. Yes! 😄

PAYMENT AGREEMENT PROTECTIONS: Clients cannot require that freelancers accept less than the contract stipulates in exchange for faster payment.

ANTI-RETALIATION: Clients cannot retaliate against freelancers for pursuing payment. Good.

DOUBLE DAMAGES: Freelancers who are the victim of non-payment are entitled to damages equal to double the payment originally specified in their contract, plus costs and attorney’s fees. Dang!

So if you work with a freelancer in either of those states, now you know.
Why isn't this standard practice across the board?
All freelancers pay taxes, insurance and have expenses just like any other business and most of us live off the wages that we invoice. I'll be honest about it, I'm constantly chasing down invoices and it's been a very large burden to me and my family in the past. The worst thing to hear from someone is "check is in the mail".
Always pay your contractors, yes on time matters.

Some days, the grind feels like an endless marathon, today I couldn’t be more grateful. It’s days like these that remind me of why I love what I do, helping my clients succeed while making real things happen.
Today, I:
✅ Launched a beautiful website for a client we’ve been working on—AND they love it! 💻🎉
✅ Crafted and finalized at least 8 graphic pieces, revisions approved, and ready to roll.
✅ Navigated through customer service client calls, solving challenges getting things done.
✅ Strategized and launched ad campaigns for clients businesses.
✅ Had 3 insightful and long client meetings where we worked on their brand growth.
✅ Took another half dozen phone calls, keeping things moving forward with clients and partners.

It’s the behind-the-scenes work that often goes unnoticed—building the systems, creating the content, solving everyone's problems, and executing it all with passion and whatever energy remains. But this is what I do for my clients, make the magic happen.
To every client who trusts me to make their vision a reality, thank you for letting me be part of your journey.

Well that was interesting! Let’s talk about that short-lived TikTok ban we just experienced. 😅
It might’ve only been 12 hours or so but it was a loud wake-up call and reminder for all of us who rely on social media—DIVERSIFY YOUR PLATFORMS and BACK UP YOUR CONTENT!

Putting all your eggs in one basket is risky business. Be prepared, platforms as we just witnessed can change, go down, or even disappear (remember Vine and Myspace?). If you’re not spreading your presence across multiple channels, you could lose the audience you’ve worked so hard to build.

Let’s not forget about BACKUPS. You’ve put time, energy, and creativity into your content—don’t let it vanish because you didn’t save it! Do uourself a favor and regularly download and store your videos, posts, and data so you can repurpose or transition smoothly if needed.

This little disruption was a reminder to stay ready, flexible, and proactive for anything. Social media is amazing, but it’s just one piece of the puzzle. Stay in control of your content, and let’s keep showing up for our audiences everywhere we can! 💪
