Pay LESS for your phone: new tariff could be UK's cheapest mobile deal

Many of us consider our smartphones as essential items . Unfortunately that means we're often facing a hefty bill at the end of the month.

Perhaps wising up to our pain, Sky Mobile has unveiled a new smartphone tariff that's ridiculously cheap.

The SIM-only deal offers up unlimited calls and unlimited texts along with 500MB of data each month. All for just a fiver a month.

Sky Mobile has just taken the wraps off a new mobile phone deal that could save Brits a lot of cash each month. Maybe.

Manchester United star to get another chance against West Brom

Manchester United will give Marcus Rashford another chance to end his six-month Premier League goal drought this weekend.

Rashford has not scored in the Premier League since plundering United’s third goal in a 4-1 win over Leicester at Old Trafford on September 24.

The England striker, 19, has bagged three FA Cup goals since then, but has drawn a blank in his 18 subsequent Premier League appearances.

Minecraft really shouldn’t have taken Nintendo by surprise. The block-building, survival-themed, creative kids’ masterpiece was already incredibly popular in the spring of 2012, when Microsoft and Mojang released the game for the Xbox 360’s download store. Nintendo at that point should have aggressively pursued a similar deal, working alongside Mojang to craft a unique Minecraft experience for Wii U’s GamePad controller, which would lend itself quite well to Minecraft‘s creative building gameplay.

Android Wear updates to transform your smartwatch into an LTE-enabled smartphone

In its last update, we've got Android Wear news from Google, like support for new languages and voice control.

Android Wear lets you stay connected, even when your phone isn't with you.

A cellular-connected smartwatch is a kind of the ultimate Dick Tracy dream, enabling you to do things like take calls and run apps without having a paired smartphone nearby.

The Android Wear smartwatch platform continues to evolve, and in the latest update from Google, it looks like we'll be seeing a lot more watch phones coming soon.

LG is announcing a new version of the Watch Urbane, the chunky Android Wear device, released this spring. The worldwide variant will be available only in a few months. If you already have a plan under Verizon, just add a $5 monthly fee on top of your bill.

One of the biggest issues with smartwatches and wearables in general right now is that, in order to access their best features, you also have to lug around your smartphone.

It is important to notice that the second LTE edition of LG Watch Urbane is now the only smartwatch announced to be independent from a mobile phone. The device is powered by a a Snapdragon 400 processor and has 768MB of RAM, 4GB of storage, and Global Positioning System and heart rate sensors. It might actually be pretty useful then, assuming you don't mind browsing the web and answering calls from your wrist, that is. The change is just that rather than pairing over Bluetooth, the watch pairs to the phone over the Internet through Wi-Fi or cellular. These include list of contacts, the LG Health fitness app and the watch face for checking the time.

The watch is now available in AT&T's online store and the operator says that the shipping will begin tomorrow. The LG Watch Urbane 2 runs the Android Wear OS that's compatible with devices running Android 4.3 or later as well as iOS.

Apple accused of racism; Tim Cook apologises

Apple’s worst PR nightmare came true on 12 November, when six black teenagers were ousted from an Apple store in Melbourne, Australia, by security and staff.

This resulted in an unprecedented backlash when one of the teenagers posted a 20-second video of the incident on Facebook, with the caption ‘Simply Racism’. The video showed the boys being asked to leave the store, with an Apple employee saying, “We’re worried you might steal something.”

This video went viral, putting Apple in a tight spot. In damage control mode, the store manager apologized and a senior manager at the store greeted the same group of students to apologise on behalf of the store and the company.

Apple chief executive officer Tim Cook sent a company-wide email reiterating the company’s core values and highlighting steps the company would take to ensure such incidents did not occur again.

Cook’s email which was shared by Buzzfeed, touches upon a number of issues.

At the outset, Cook calls the Melbourne incident “unacceptable” but “isolated”, a moment which the company will use as an opportunity to draw lessons. “What people have seen and heard from watching the video on the web does not represent our values. It is not a message we would ever want to deliver to a customer or hear ourselves,” Cook wrote.

One of the highlights of the email is the pledge that Apple makes to its customers and to itself—that “Apple is open. Our stores and our hearts are open to people from all walks of life, regardless of race or religion, gender or sexual orientation, age, disability, income, language or point of view. All across our company, being inclusive and embracing our differences makes our products better and our stores stronger.”

Surprisingly, the staff at the Melbourne Apple store that turned out the black teenagers are themselves of diverse nationalities, including Australia, Egypt, Italy and India and, between them, speak 15 languages, including Urdu, Portuguese, Arabic and Mandarin.

Following the incident, staff at all Apple stores will undergo refresher training programmes. Training would be given on inclusion and customer engagement, concepts that may have been forgotten over time.

Cook’s email is high on rhetoric and hyperbole, extolling old virtues and customer service practices which should be second nature for a customer-focused company like Apple. The incident may be isolated but raises important questions around diversity. Apple itself has been struggling to increase and improve diversity practices. According to the company’s latest diversity report, Apple has hired 50% more black employees and 66% more Hispanics in the US. But overall, Apple remains 69% male and 55% white.

Microsoft to acquire data protection firm Secure Islands

Microsoft announced Monday that it has made a deal to acquire Secure Islands, an Israeli company that focuses on protecting companies' data. Neither company disclosed the terms of the deal.

The acquisition will help Microsoft level up its Azure Rights Management Service, which lets companies protect files individually and in bulk with tools that ensure they aren't opened or modified by people who are unauthorized to do so. Secure Islands's services include data classification technology that automatically detects the creation of new files from a variety of sources and then applies a protection policy to it.

In addition, the Israeli company already has experience with Microsoft's on-premises-based Active Directory Rights Management Service through its consulting business, which would seem to make it a natural fit for working with Microsoft's cloud-based rights management service.

Secure Islands will continue selling its products to new customers and providing services to its existing customers while the acquisition makes its way through regulatory approvals. Microsoft said in a statement that Secure Islands will continue to provide support to existing customers going forward, though didn't provide specifics about what that would look like.

Monday's announcement is the second security-focused acquisition Microsoft has made recently. The company acquired Silicon Valley-based Adallom in September, which was a deal focused on enhancing Microsoft's Advanced Threat Analytics service. Both the threat analytics and rights management services are part of Microsoft's push to provide companies with tools that can be used to better secure their information as it drifts farther afield from a business's premises with increased adoption of mobile devices and cloud computing.

This is also Microsoft's second acquisition in two weeks, and fifth acquisition of an Israeli startup this year. Last week, the Redmond, Washington-based tech titan announced that it had made a deal with Mobile Data Labs, the maker of an app that's used to track mobile workers' mileage.

National agency wants to see seat belts on school buses

Seat belts on school buses are rare to find in Idaho, but that could eventually change.

The chief of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has spoken out in support of adding seat belts to all buses. A study by the NHTSA finds that, from 2003 to 2012, 55 children were killed in crashes while riding on a school bus.

Fatal crashes are not common in Idaho, but with the most recent one happening less than two years ago in Kuna, it hits close to home to many in the Treasure Valley and beyond.

"I think it would be a good idea," said Sharee Blaisdell, a Malad City resident. "I don't know exactly how they would do it. But I think it would be a safety feature for children. It's like any motorized vehicle on an Idaho highway. So I believe there should be something in place as well."

A representative for Brown Bus company in Nampa says they support any safety enhancements, but it could come at a cost.

"To retrofit, you're probably in the $10,000-12,000 range per bus," said Brent Carpenter, the operations manager for Brown Bus Company. "For a new bus, you're probably in the $6,500-8,000 range to equip them with the new technology."

A former bus driver says the idea may not necessarily make it safer for kids. She has concerns that the kids could use the belts as weapons and it may be harder to evacuate a bus in case of an emergency.

The recommendation from the NHTSA can not be enforced. The agency just hopes bus companies will voluntarily comply.

RIHANNA has dropped out of her performance at the upcoming Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and has been replaced by British pop star Ellie Goulding.
The Diamonds singer was announced as a musical guest at the annual catwalk extravaganza alongside Selena Gomez and The Weeknd back in October.

A week before the 20th anniversary show tapes in New York, it has been revealed Rihanna has dropped out to focus on making her eighth album, and Ellie has been drafted in as a replacement. A representative for the underwear brand confirmed the People.com report on social media, but neither star has commented on the news.
Rihanna’s father Ronald Fenty recently revealed her album is not ready for release and requires a lot more work because the pop star is not happy with the songs.
Mr Fenty told Britain’s The Sun newspaper, “Robyn (Rihanna’s first name) is not happy with the new album ... She’s not comfortable with it. When she went over the songs she found all these little things she wanted to change and was worried about it. It’s a long process and isn’t easy.
“She has some things she likes but wants something more. To her it’s not ready. She doesn’t know which of the 26 songs to use. She’s still looking for fresh material and has the energy for it.”
Victoria’s Secret supermodels Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Behati Prinsloo, and Candice Swanepoel are due to walk in the show, plus relative newcomers Gigi Hadid and Stella Maxwell, Miley Cyrus’ rumoured girlfriend. Reality TV star Kendall Jenner is also gearing up to model lingerie on the runway, according to E! Online.

Two Australian models Shanina Shaik and Bridget Malcolm have scored a spot on the runway.
Lily Aldridge has the honour of wearing the 2015 Fantasy Bra, which features over 6,500 gems set in 18-karat gold and is worth $2.80 million.
The 20th anniversary special is set to broadcast in the US on the 8th of December

KHLOÉ Kardashian isn't ready to freeze her eggs.

The 31-year-old reality TV star, who previously opened up about her struggle to conceive during her relationship with estranged husband Lamar Odom, admits her pregnant older sister Kim Kardashian West has been urging her to make plans for the future.

Asked if she would like to have mini versions of herself running around one day, she said: "I hope so. I mean, there has to be eventually. Kim is trying to talk to me about freezing eggs, but I don't know how much... I'm like, 'B***h, how old do you think I am?' "

The blonde beauty, who is still dating NBA star James Harden despite calling off her divorce from Lamar in order to support him after he was found unconscious at a brothel following a drugs binge last month, has no regrets about allowing 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' to document the breakdown of her marriage.

She explained: "I think I was so open and honest about my relationship with Lamar -- which I don't regret for a second; it was the best time of my life.

"But because you can't just show these wonderful things and then not show the other stuff -- like 'Oh! Lamar disappeared!' I had to explain I was going through a divorce, and people appreciate that and relate to it."

Meanwhile, Khloé and her siblings, including younger half-sister Kylie Jenner, 18, are very competitive when it comes to their designer wardrobes.

She told Yahoo! Style: "We've very competitive with each other, but in like a fun, friendly way. I just show the 18 year olds that mama can still get it."

Kristen Wiig on 'Ghostbusters' Controversy: 'It Just Bummed Me Out'

The 'Bridesmaids' actress said that she was annoyed by the backlash from fans over the movie's all-female lead cast.
When "Ghostbusters (2016)" was announced, many fans took to social media to criticize the film because it features all-female lead characters. One of the lead actresses, Kristen Wiig, admitted that she was not happy with the controversy, saying that it bummed her out.

In an interview with LA Times to promote her new movie "Nasty Baby", Wiig was asked if she had ever starred in a movie that had received so much attention like her all-female "Ghostbusters" reboot. "No," the 42-year-old actress stressed. "And the fact there was so much controversy because we were women was surprising to me. Some people said some really not nice things about the fact that there were women," she added. "It didn't make me mad, it just really bummed me out. We're really honoring those movies."

Paul Feig, the director of the reboot, had similar experiences. Many Twitter users thought that an all-female cast is a gimmick, or in other words, women can't be funny. "I just don't understand why it's ever an issue anymore. I've promoted both 'Bridesmaids' and 'The Heat' and myself and my cast are still hit constantly with the question, 'will this answer the question of whether women can be funny?' I really cannot believe we're still having this conversation," the director said of the backlash.

Wiig stars alongside Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, Chris Hemsworth and Neil Casey in the reboot that follows a group of female ghost hunters trying to prove the existence of the supernatural beings. The female-centric "Ghostbusters" reboot is scheduled for a U.S. release on July 15, 2016.

What to expect from "Supergirl" on CBS

They don't call her "Supergirl" for nothing. And yes -- the word "girl" is intentional.

In the pilot episode of the upcoming CBS show, when the show's protagonist, Cara, saves her sister's plane from crashing, Cara's boss dubs the young mystery woman who came to the rescue "Supergirl."

"Shouldn't she be called Super ... Woman?" asks Cara.

"What do you think is so bad about 'girl?'" asks her media mogul boss, Cat Grant, played by Calista Flockhart. "I'm a girl and your boss and powerful and rich and hot and smart, so if you perceive Supergirl as anything less than excellent, isn't the real problem you?"

In a conference call with executive producers Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, Ali Adler and star Melissa Benoist, Berlanti said of the moment, "That speech was in the original pitch for the show. One thing I found in doing this is sometimes the temptation is there to alter things ... We really want to be protective of the show and have a conversation."

The producers and Benoist promised that the show will have plenty of girl power; Benoist said young girls will be able to find a role model in Cara.

"I always keep in mind her bravery, hope and positivity and strength and I think it will be hard for girls to not look up to that," said Benoist.

Adler added that Cara won't just be a role model for young girls, but for everyone.

"All the attributes Melissa [Benoist] brings [to the character] -- courage, hope and strength -- are genderless," she said.

And Cara isn't the only "Supergirl" on the show.

"We see [Cara's] relationship with Cat Grant as a very important woman in her life," said Adler. "She's a superhero, too, as is her sister. But Cat is a voice of wisdom, whether she says it in a kind way or not, and that's an amazing female relationship."

The producers promised that the show will definitely pass the Bechdel test -- a test that examines whether or not two female characters in a piece of fiction talk to each other about something other than a man. Aside from looking up to her mentor, the hard-edged, but impressive Cat Grant, Cara will find a friend in Lucy Lane, played by Jenna Dewan Tatum, and the two will embark on adventures together.

Still, Benoist said that even though she's thrilled to see powerful female characters on TV, she doesn't want viewers to get distracted from the storyline.

"I don't tend to focus on it too much because I want people to have fun watching the show and enjoy watching Cara's journey as much as I enjoy playing it," she said. "It truly to me doesn't matter that she's a girl because she kicks some serious a**."

Where does Benoist draw her inspiration for her plane-lifting character from Krypton?

"I come from a family where the women are really the majority," she explained. "We outnumber the men in my family by far and all the women in my family are superheroes of mine."

"Supergirl" premieres at 8 p.m. ET Monday on CBS.

Kate Hudson Spotted Holding Hands with Agent Michael Kives Following Nick Jonas Romance Rumors

Nick who?

Kate Hudson raised eyebrows on Monday night when she was spotted getting cozy with her agent Michael Kives after a busy night of movie premieres and after parties.

Hudson was photographed holding hands with Kives as they left New York's Up & Down club after attending the premiere of her new movie Rock the Kasbah. Hudson dazzled in a striped white and gold dress, while Kives kept his look more casual in jeans and a blue sports coat for the night.

The actress, 36, was all smiles with the agent as they walked back to their car hand-in-hand. Once inside, they were seen getting even cozier as the two cuddled up next to each other, leaning their faces close together in a flirty exchange.

This isn't the first time Hudson's been seen getting close with her agent. Kives has been spotted holding the actress tight multiple times before. In August, they were seen emerging from a West Hollywood lounge once again holding hands. The same week, Kives seemed to be content with his hands around Hudson's waist as they snapped a picture with friends after dinner.

" ," Hudson captioned the photo.

From carnivals to the tennis courts, creativity abounds on Day 2 of Fashion Week

TORONTO - As homegrown designers share their visions for spring-summer 2016 style, some noteworthy seasonal pastimes are serving as prime creative inspiration.

Here are Day 2 highlights from Toronto's World MasterCard Fashion Week.

UNDER THE SEA: MERMAIDS INSPIRE HELDER DIEGO

A mythical aquatic creature served as real-world inspiration for Helder Diego's latest collection.

Formerly known as BLAK.I, the womenswear brand helmed by Helder Aguiar and Diego Fuchs sought to chart the evolution of the mermaid in its spring-summer line.

With shimmering sequins symbolic of scales, the collection transition from the multicoloured hues in the ocean to black and silver. The line of mainly form-fitting garments encompassed everything from mesh cowl tops, blazers, long-sleeve tees and jeggings to pleated jumpsuits and shorts, and of course, a mermaid gown.

"For us, we've always been inspired by powerful women," said Fuchs. "Our woman from Day 1 has been one who loves herself and is confident in herself, and who will wear our stuff and be 100 per cent confident."

TICKET TO RIDE: HAYLEY ELSAESSER OPENS "CARNIVAL OF CURIOSITY"

Step right up: The carnival has come to the catwalk.

Hayley Elsaesser brought an amusement park twist to the whimsical, colourful creations that have become hallmarks of her label.

After a pink-haired model rolled along the runway in a four-wheeler to open the show, there was no slowing down for this fun house ride which Elsaesser dubbed "the carnival of curiosity."

The designer brought her inventive take on the theme with ultra-bright prints emblazoned on shirts, pullovers, jackets, culottes and dresses featuring "admit one" tickets, poodles and even the Grim Reaper in a bumper car.

The line was awash in boldly vibrant hues from rainbow-striped separates to metallics steeped in electric purple and green hues.

Elsaesser said she loves the opportunity to bring a sense of levity to her designs.

"I just think that a lot of the fashion industry like to take themselves a bit too seriously," she said backstage following her runway show.

"Fashion and clothes should be fun. It kind of transforms you when you put something on ... and that's what I like my clothes to do.___

GAME, SET, MATCH: TIME FOR TENNIS AT BUSTLE

Bustle served up its take on tennis-inspired style with its typically cheeky approach to sportswear.

Models sporting headbands and toting racquets showcased creations with both subtle and more overt nods to the sport.

Alongside the refined coloured trims on blazer pockets and piping on pants, there were colour-drenched images of courtside scenes screened on T-shirts and zip-front jackets.

There were athleticwear staples aplenty, including hoodies, shorts and sweats. Among the more playful takes on the tennis theme? The graphic tees sporting the slogan: "Love means nothing to a player."

LUCIAN MATIS MAKES FASHIONABLE RETURN

After several seasons away from Toronto's fashion week tents, Lucian Matis went to great lengths to deliver a personalized touch in his return to the runway.

"I wanted it to be a collection of personalities more than the same look changed in different ways, so that was really my main focus," he said backstage following his spring-summer showcase.

"I did a lot of experimenting with textiles. ... All the prints are created by me. So everything is designed in-house."

Matis brought deft and delicate use of craftmanship to the line of lush, ultra-feminine dresses and gowns, from the embroidered florals to beaded accents on watercolour-like prints. Pearls featured quite prominently in the designer's collection, put to most dramatic use in a show-stopping, floor-skimming gown with a sweeping train swathed in strands of the luminous beads.

Fashion Week continues until Friday.
