In a world full of hate and bigotry there is still love. I have always said I don't know why we have to label people as according to their race, religion, political point of view, or any other devisive category. Why can't we all just be human beings?

I don’t know who this lady is but if you know her tell her she’s awesome. Isaiah walked up to this lady at our last home game two weeks ago. He sat on her lap and they were talking like they knew each other. It lasted no more than 20 mins. However, she left right after halftime to meet up with her little girl.

Fast forward to tonight…not long after we sat down at the game Isaiah spotted her. She waved at him and he made his way up to her. I thought their interaction would be the same as last time but I was wrong. Isaiah walked right up to her smiling, crawled in her lap and laid his head down on her shoulder. She welcomed him with open arms. This lady patted and rocked Isaiah to sleep like she had given birth to him. It was the sweetest!!

We asked her if she wanted us to get him but she kept telling us she (and he) was fine!! Isaiah and this lady has NEVER met before other than those 20 mins at a game 2 weeks ago. I told her tonight that I am so sorry and I don’t know why he keeps bothering her. She replied he’s no bother and to not say that again. She said he was her new friend. She then went on to say she only has one child who is 15 and moments like this are priceless!!!

With all of the racial tension that’s going on I’m glad to see the pictures like these because it goes to show color don’t matter to a lot of people. It really don’t!! Arguing over stuff as such makes us miss the simple pleasures in life. I hate I didn’t get her name but I will next game because I’m sure Isaiah will make his way back to her. I love her and don’t know her!

Update: We found out who she is. Her name is Mrs. Angela. She’s such a sweet lady y’all! It’s awesome how God connects people together for whatever reason!!
This is her post after finding out I posted this picture for her:

“To God be all praise, glory, and honor! I have been overwhelmed with emotions today as I have read the post Star Balloon-Bradley shared. I am humbled by the kind words every one has spoken. Isaiah is absolutely adorable! I pray people will Jesus in all this & know His love is beyond measure & that is how I want to love & life my life. I’m not worthy but He sure is!” -Angela

Reminder:
We are planning our Second Annual Cummunity Lemon Aid Stand and this year we have added a Community Yard Sale also, all at The Acorn ComeUnity Center on Saturday, May 18th. I have limited indoor spaces and tables. To set up outside on the lawn you will need to bring your own tables chairs and canopy. Set up cost is a $10 donation.
Please PRIVATE MESSAGE me ASAP to reserve your spot!
I already have 6 inside vendors. Can probably take 4 more inside.
Inside vendors will be permitted to set up on Friday evening, and out side vendors will need to be set up and ready to go by 9AM on Saturday morning.
There will be coffee and bottled water for sale by the Community Center. Belle's Lemon Aid Stand will once again be open outside the front door and I hope to have baked goods vendors as well.

In Cherokee culture, women held significant positions and enjoyed certain privileges and responsibilities.
in society were considered equals to men and could earn the title of War Women. They had the right to participate in councils and make decisions alongside men. This equality sometimes led outsiders to make derogatory remarks, such as the accusation of a "petticoat government" by the Irish trader Adair.
Clan kinship was matrilineal among the Cherokee, meaning that family lineage and inheritance were traced through the mother's side. Children grew up in their mother's house, and maternal uncles held the role of teaching boys essential skills related to hunting, fishing, and tribal duties.
Women owned houses and their furnishings, and marriages were often negotiated. In the event of a divorce, a woman would simply place her spouse's belongings outside the house. Cherokee women had diverse responsibilities, including caring for children, cooking, tanning skins, weaving baskets, and cultivating fields. Men contributed to some household chores but primarily focused on hunting.
Cherokee girls learned various skills by observing and participating in their community. They learned , , , dancing, and acquired knowledge about their heritage. Women were integral to the Cherokee society, and their roles played a central part in the community's functioning and adaptation to changing circumstances.

Update!
Well I've gotten the ok and scheduled the first class here at the Acorn ComeUnity Center. There's still LOTS of work to do before we can have an official launch date and Grand Opening but we ARE coming along. The sanctuary is being turned into the multi purpose room. It will be available as a venue for events, party's, showers, meetings, small weddings and reunions by advance reservation. We are working on the details for that.

Our plans are to turn the Sunday school rooms into a kitchen area that can also be used for such events.

We will be planning fund raisers to raise money for things like tables, chairs, stove, fridge, mircowave and coffee pot.

Our current plan of action is to have a regular scheduled ComeUnity POTLUCK fundraisers with bingo and live entertainment once a month. A donation of $5 per adult, $3 per youth (under 18)and will be collected at the door. More information on that will come later.

Once school starts I will be scheduling after school clubs. The kids can ride the school bus right to the center for these after school clubs. There will also be more information on those coming soon! Please help get the word out! Tell people about the center and about this page and please consider volunteering and supporting the center! One person alone can not make this what it has the potential to be for our community, I'm gonna need help! Our community needs this! We need YOU! Come join us at Acorn ComeUnity OutReach Center!

Update for ya all. Weve just about got ten rid of all the church furniture so the sanctuary is getting closer to being cleaned out, cleaned up and converted into a ComeUnity Room. The ComeUnity Room will eventually be available to rent for Party's, meetings, reunions, small weddings or receptions, classes or meetings. We will also be planning monthly meals (bean supper, chili supper, spaghetti supper, etc.)with entertainment as a fundraiser to pay the utility bills.
Our current and most urgent need is volunteers to serve on the advisory/planning or (board of directors) committee, and an army of volunteers to help with the clean up and transformation efforts. I have been cleaning a little bit off and on. But there is so much to be done! If you are interested in helping to get our ComeUnity Center up and running THIS YEAR please consider serving as a member of the board or on another committee. I will start planning regular meetings at the center as soon as the ComeUnity room is ready! I will post meeting information here as well as my personal page and the community watch group.

Do you like to sing? We are planning an informational meeting to possibly form an Acorn ComeUnity Chior. Please comment if you or you have children, youth, seniors who would enjoy psrticipating in a community chior. The chior/group would perform at our fundraisers and other events. I'm thinking we would have a children chior, youth chior, senior chior and all community chior. There will not be try outs. Everyone who enjoys singing is welcome and encouraged to participate. We also have a piano if any one who plays would like to participate or you can bring your own instrument. Keep an eye out for more information.

Just a little line to let everyone l know that we are still waiting on some things to happen before we can start actually using the community center. The insurance company needs to come look at the roof and there is some cleaning to do.
Phase 1 will be cleaning and fundrsaiding. Along with advisory board organization, by laws writing, terms of use agreement and other operational projects.
Phase 2 will be continued fundraising, programing, and community needs assessments, and remodel.
Phase 3 will be continued fundraising, soft launch.
Phase 4 will be community calender and Grand Opening after the remodel is complete.
Phase 5 will be continuing programming, continuing fundraising and general operations.

The center will bee available by reservation for events such as showers, reunions, parties, and classes.

There will be affordable classes and community events as well some free events for community members of all ages.

We are so excited to have been given this opportunity for our community. Please consider volunteering and supporting this program in what ever way you can.

You can private message me call for more information, questions or suggestions for programming and events.

Thanks in advance for supporting the Acorn ComeUnity Center!
