“When I walked into the GCI store five years ago to pay my internet bill, I was just joking when I asked if they were hiring. But I felt it — this was a new chapter. Before GCI, I was on and off with so many jobs. I’d stay for a year or two and move on. But working at GCI, it’s become my passion. I like the competition, and I like being the hype man. I’m always cheering on my teammates. Teamwork is the dream work.
Every morning, I come in and am ready for any challenge. I don’t just look at what I need to accomplish, I look at what else I can achieve. If the goal is 12 sales, I’ll add five more. I’m competing with myself, but I’ve also found out people in other stores are competing with me too, and I love that! I’ve worked in places where no one noticed the hard work I did. But here, I feel appreciated. My managers care about us as people, not just employees. We celebrate our wins. We show up for each other. That’s why I show up 20 minutes early every day, because I’m excited to be here.
Growing up, we didn’t have much. I had to step into responsibility early, helping raise my siblings. That’s what drives me — to create a better future for my kids and not put them through what I went through. GCI gave me that drive. I didn’t even have my high school diploma when I started, but I got it to work here. I wanted to show my kids they could do it too.”
In her five years at GCI, Aisi has worked her way up to Senior Customer Service Sales Specialist. She's the ultimate hype woman and always knows how to put a smile on her teammates’ faces. Outside of work, you can find her dip netting with friends, camping in Kasilof or hanging outdoors with her family and friends!
