Dear Simpsonville, I love you, and I appreciate all your work and dedication on behalf of the campaign💙.

Disappointment may the feeling tonight, but joy comes in the morning.

Tonight’s outcome was decided by 14 voters. But in truth, tonight’s outcome was decided by the non participatory voters. Turnout for tonight’s election was just 4 percent of Simpsonville’s citizens. It isn’t the outcome we wanted, but it is the outcome we got, and we respect the will of the voters.

So all we have left to do is roll up our sleeves and get to work.

We won’t give up, and we won’t stop. I’ll hope you’ll stay with me for this journey. Simpsonville is our community, and we deserve a community that works together in good faith. My soul is at peace tonight❤️. We ran a good, clean campaign, and I know we have represented the community, my family, and my faith with honor❤️

Let’s wish the winner Councilman elect Chad O'Rear our best.

And say hello to your newly elected Shannon Williams, Ward 3 Councilwoman 👋

🚨Our countdown begins-3 days till the runoff on Tuesday the 21st🚨

When I held my hand up and took an oath to run a clean campaign, I meant it. I don’t make promises lightly. But that was one promise I knew I could keep.

I am often reminded of one my former pastor’s sermons on how you start, vs. how you finish. He always said no one remembers how you start, it’s how you finish that you will be remembered.

King Saul began his reign with humility and honor, but later gave in to fear and shame. It’s a lesson I keep close to the heart.

Never trade what you want most right now, for what you want in the long term.

I want to finish how I start. I want to keep my promises, my integrity, and my honor. I want those who vouched for me, endorsed me, and believed in me, to be proud and know that I value them as well. And I am proud to say I can finish this campaign with a clear conscience and an open heart, before my family, my community, and my God.

My family deserves it, and Simpsonville deserves it.

This is a bit old, but it’s one of my favorite family pictures💛

It’s International Men’s Day, so what a great time to introduce you the man that takes my first spot of favorite men (4 hold my ❤️) in this world. My husband Ben💙.

Men’s Day “celebrates worldwide the positive value men bring to the world, their families and communities. We highlight positive role models and raise awareness of men’s well-being”.

And what a positive role model he is! He loves his family and works so hard for all of us and I’m incredibly lucky to have him in our lives. And while he won’t kill spiders for me🙄, I’ve learned over the years to appreciate and admire his ability to see the beauty of the world around him. He makes me a better person, and he makes our family whole.

This is one of my favorite pictures of us, from our wedding, but especially of him💙

🚨Disclaimer🚨. No turkeys or wildlife otherwise were harmed here today.

As a cat mom🐈‍⬛, amateur birder🕊️and a plant mom🪴 I am a huge supporter of wildlife!

Winners just take a gift card to buy a Turkey for Thanksgiving silly!

Okay, Simpsonville📣📣. This is how you know I will move heaven and earth for you. Today is one of my favorite events, but I won’t be spending my day there because I am out working for you!

However, in honor of the Rotary Club’s annual Turkey Shoot, and as a bonafide SC political candidate, could you even take me seriously if I didn’t share a picture of me and one of my guns?!

Also, this shot (picture shot, not buck shot) was me winning my round, for the second time. It was “too close to call” so they called me back for another round😉

Like Dolly says “A peacock that rests on its feathers is just another Turkey”

Simpsonville, I’ve heard you loud and clear these past few weeks📣

🛑Traffic, water runoff, growth, accessibility, our Parks and Rec, development, pets, zoning, and more!

You need a problem solver and a team player.

You need a Councilwoman who won’t make it all about herself.

You need a Councilwoman who understands she doesn’t have all the answers, but she is willing to put in the work to get answers.

You need Erin Medlin for Simpsonville City Council, Ward 1.

No hidden agendas, no personal gain, just a history of service and civility.

“Leave a place better than you found it”

I adopted this core value years ago as a Volunteer Mom with my son’s Boy Scout Troop. Imagine if we all left a place better than we found it!

In addition to supporting our Veterans, I also believe it’s important to support our First Responders along with Teachers and their students.

Every year, through my civic volunteer work, we gather and distribute supplies for our local Police and Fire Stations, Constitution Week packets and supplies for our schools, and of course, our Veterans centered nursing home.

Service to the community is one of my values, and that‘s one I know we share Simpsonville. And we are always looking for help. The more the merrier!

(Pictured below are the snacks we distributed on Patriot’s Day 9/11 to our Simpsonville Police Department❤️🤍💙)

I have been teaching college English since 2015, and I love it. I can’t really show a lot pictures or share much about that due to privacy laws (following the rules and regulations are very important btw).

But this year I started working at the middle school my kids attend. I wanted to be closer to their day to day lives, and just be a presence. And if there is one big difference between college kids and school aged kids, it’s the pure fun and silliness.

The kids call me The Meg, short for Megalodon, and I LOVE it so I added this little pop it to join in the fun. All the cool kids have them. IYKYK.

Some of my volunteer work is supporting our veterans, and I’m really excited to continue that work for our city. This picture, of my youngest daughter Violet, was taken last year, during our yearly Wreaths Across America Campaign. and another reminder to never take yourself too seriously.

Early in this election process, in September, I was invited to speak at a local precinct meeting to introduce my candidacy. Almost every candidate was there. At one point during the evening, someone in the audience asked us to pledge to run a clean campaign, no name calling, no personal attacks, and no dirty business. Every single one of us raised our hands and made that pledge. As the election season comes to a close soon, I am so proud to say on behalf of us all, that this promise was kept. What a wonderful testament to Simpsonville and our community! Perhaps we differ on our approach and policies, but when it’s all over, we are still ONE community together. That’s something we can all take pride in for our

Another flashback for your Sunday morning, and in anticipation of Christmas🎄🎄I found this old picture when I was looking for Veterans Day pics for my daughter school pics.

In the early 2000’s I spent a couple of years working as a houseparent at the Tabernacle Baptist Children’s Home in Greenville. My grandparents were charter members there, and this part of their ministry always called strongly to me. It’s one of my most cherished experiences. These kids are grown, many married with children of their own now, and I get the joy of seeing them through Facebook from time to time.

I’ve said it many times, here, and while door knocking, and meeting our citizens, but I remain so thankful to be a part of a community, and an election, where there has been nothing but positivity, no name calling and no mud slinging. We’re just simply better in community❤️

I first met Skip at a Simpsonville City Council Meeting. When he and I met, I wanted him to know that from where I was sitting, as a fellow candidate, he and I were on the same page. I knew he wanted the best possible outcome for the city, and that is exactly what I want as well.

I am so appreciative to Skip for caring enough about our city and our community to take the risk to run his campaign. And I am thankful for his support in the run off.

Can I trust you?

Are you good at what you do?

Do you care about me?

I first heard these 3 questions while listening to Lou Holtz talk about his college football coaching days, and have since adopted them as my approach to teaching, in business, and within my volunteer work. These 3 questions helped me formulate the three words that I would use as my core values to present myself as a candidate for Simpsonville City Council.

I know that I don’t know everything.

I know I won’t always be able to make everyone happy.

I have been asked multiple times during this campaign to make promises on hypothetical situations, and I have refused each and every time. I don’t believe making promises on hypotheticals fall in line with my core values of honesty, commitment, and integrity.

Tomorrow is Election Day, and I am asking you to cast a vote for a candidate that has proven her honesty, her commitment, and her integrity.

These are my guiding principles in my work and my service. I CAN promise to work hard for you, to be honest, committed, and act with integrity, as your Simpsonville City Councilwoman for Ward 1.

🚨9 Days until the Election🚨

When my husband and I bought our house in Simpsonville many years ago, the Ice Cream Station played a big part in our decision.

That probably sounds crazy right? You bought your house because of an ice cream place?!

Downtown Simpsonville looked a little bit different then, but the Ice Cream Station was front and center, and I loved the idea of being able to walk or ride our bikes downtown for some family friendly fun. I believed that the Ice Cream Station, and some of the other downtown staples like Carolina Olive Oil Marketplace and Exchange Co Coffee would attract even more with all the potential that Simpsonville had.

The Ice Cream Station is housed in the old train depot that is central to the history of our town. In fact, the city owns this historical property, and the Ice cream station acts as stewards to this downtown icon, a bit of trivia I learned years ago while attending a council meeting where council renewed the lease on the depot.

I talked about the Ice Cream Starion so much, that when my college girlfriends came to visit me, it was one of the first places they wanted to visit. And with good reason!

On the left, was a visit from 2016, and pictured on the right is one of my friends who visited in 2022, trying one of my favorite things on the menu, the Cheerwine Float.

What is your favorite menu item from the Ice Cream Station?

🚨10 day countdown to Election Day, and long post warning🚨

If God be for us, who can be against us?

I recently found this old picture of my father, taken somewhere between the ages of 16-20. He passed in 2014, but I know if he were here today he would be so, so, proud of me for taking a leap of faith, and being vulnerable for something I believe in. Whenever I was anxious about some outcome or another, he would remind me “If God be for us, who can be against us?”

I don’t think God is “for” me in this City Council race, or any other political race or candidate for that matter. In fact, I know he isn’t (Proverbs 21:1).

But I do know God is for a heart of service (Phil 2:3-5), for honesty (2 Cor 8:21, Phil. 4:8-9), for commitment (Numbers 30:2, Proverbs 18:1), and for integrity (Proverbs 20:7, 1 Timothy 1:5).

And so I keep on keeping on, working hard and not knowing the final outcome. But I do know that when it’s finished I can say that I was authentic and honest, and kept my commitments and my integrity, and that my entire working life, has been a life of service to others, and that is what I can offer to my community. As I talk to voters everyday, I often say I don’t have all the answers, and I can’t make promises about what I don’t know yet, but I can work hard for you, and do my best to do my homework on every issue that comes before the council.

As always, I am Eager to Learn and Ready to Serve Simpsonville.
