How did Congo get to the place it is today?
It is essential that we do not regurgitate plot points & headlines fed to us by mainstream media, but rather analyze past and present factors contributing to the trajectory of the DRC. Understanding the history just as well as the present is key.
Very few countries have experienced the ill-will and violence that the DRC has, and even fewer countries have the complex, geographical size, demographics, coveted resources, and disruption that Congo has.
The DRC has continued to make incremental progress, and will make significantly more with the investment and interest of the diaspora globally🌍

From 1971 to 1997, DR Congo was known as Zaïre, where it shared its extravagant influence on culture, art, music, and more. Influences that would be seen in Western movies including Coming to America 1&2, as well as Black Panther 1&2 and the nation of Wakanda’s Vibranium, similar to Congo’s Cobalt and Coltan reserves.
Its rich heritage, complete with Mobutu’s signature leopard print, made a bold statement. Iconic musicians like Franco, Tabu Ley Rochereau, and Papa Wemba shaped Lingala music, not only in Africa but worldwide. This extravagant era continues to be a significant chapter in African history. 🌍🐆🎶🎨 #ZaireLegacy #PanAfricanism #Sapologie #BlackHistory #AfricanHistory #comingtoamerica
