STEVEN WILLIAM CRADDOCK, 75, passed peacefully on Wed., June 12, 2024 surrounded by his family.
Steve was born April 6, 1949, to Eldon William Craddock and Marjorie Rowand Craddock. He has one sister, Annette (Larry) Luth.
After graduating from ABL High School, he attended Southern Illinois University. Steve and Peggy Chandler Craddock married on March 9, 1969.
They have three children, Jeffrey William of Nebraska, Timothy Steven (Heidi) of Allerton and Amy Beth Heppe of Los Angeles. He will be loved and missed by his four beloved grandchildren, Matthew and Benjamin Craddock, Audrey and Rhys Heppe, to whom he is Papa Steve.
He was committed to the family farm, working the land for over 56 years in Allerton.
Funeral services were 10 a.m. today (Thursday) at Sidell United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Joines Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
JOHN EDWARD THOMAS, 60, of Fairmount passed away at 9:44 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2024, at his home.
John was born Jan. 26, 1964, in Indianola to Bobby “Bob” D. and Betty Staley Thomas. He married Pamela “Pam” Kay Drollinger on Oct. 31, 1987, in Catlin. She survives. Also surviving are his mother Betty Thomas of Indianola; one son, Zach Thomas of Fairmount; two daughters, Britt (Aaron) Cain of Danville and Katelyn (fiancé Drake Arnold) Thomas of Hume; one brother, Brian Thomas of Indianola and eight grandchildren, Sophia McDaniels, Lydia Cain, Aaron John Cain, Jr., Lakota Thompson, Haiden Thompson, Hunter Thompson, Greyson Arnold and Owen Arnold. He was preceded in death by his father.
John graduated from Jamaica High School in 1982 and served three years in the US Army and two years in the US Army reserves. He worked for 10 years at Meadow Gold and 28 years at Quaker Oats in Danville. He was a member of the Illinois Trapper Association and the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and loved spending time with his grandkids. John had many friends including his special friends, Otto Collins, Tim Prunkard, Darren Richards, Troy Pate and Allen Ford.
Funeral services 2 p.m. on Monday, June 24 at Robison Chapel, Catlin with Pastor James Blue officiating. Visitation from noon to 2 p.m. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Indianola with military honors accorded by the Georgetown American Legion Dornblaser Post #203. KATHYRN ANN PARKS, 90, of Danville, passed away on Thurs., June 13, 2024, at the Hawthorne Inn in Danville.
Kathy was born July 16, 1933, the youngest of eight children, in Fairmount, daughter of the late Edward E. and Opal S. (Baird) Brandon.
She married Gerald “Gary” Parks on July 14, 1990, in Santa Cruz, Calif., and he preceded her in death in 2019.
Surviving are her children: Dave (Dena) Moreman, Ed (Teresa) Moreman, Brenda Rhodes and Lisa Abdelghani; her step-children: Lawrence (DeAnna) Parks, Denise Barr, Susan Andrews and Tim Parks; 30 grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren and many special friends.
Along with her parents and husband, Kathy was preceded in death by a stepson: Scott Parks, a son-in-law: Paul Rhodes; four sisters: Frances, Opal, Thelma and Elnora; and three brothers: George, Joe, and Edward Jr.
Kathy graduated from Fairmount High School in 1951. She retired from G.E./Valmont in 1992 after 26 years. Kathy enjoyed traveling to her grandchildren’s ballgames and school functions. Kathy was born on a farm, so it felt natural for her to retire on a farm and live out the last years of her life. She took great pride in her garden, her flowers and her beautiful yard. Feeding the birds and watching hummingbirds at the feeder brought her great joy. Above all, Kathy enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m. Sat., June 22 at Sunset Funeral Home, Danville, with entombment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. ahead of the funeral.
Memorial donations in Kathy’s name may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

STAN RICHARDSON, 83, prominent Ridge Farm resident, passed away Wed. June 12, 2024, at 1:30 a.m. at his home after a brief illness. He was born April 5, 1941, in Anna to Wayne and Allean Proctor Richardson. Stan married Carol Knight Dec. 11, 1961, in Carterville. Carol survives, as well as, one sister, Jane Ann Bushong of Edwardsville and many nieces and nephews that he loved like his own, as well as his faithful dog, Cooper. Stan was preceded in death by four brothers, Myron, Doyle, Jimmy and Tom.
Stan was a longtime security officer at the Newport Chemical Plant. He served four terms on the Ridge Farm Village board, served on the Ridge Farm Fire Department, as well as terms as Police Chief for the village. A 50-year Mason and member of Ridge Farm Masonic Lodge 632, where he was Master of the lodge eight times and a 50-year member of the Ansar Shrine of Springfield. He also served as District Deputy for the Grand Lodge. He was a “Roadrunner” for the shrine, driving patients to the Shriner’s Hospitals. He enjoyed riding the Shriner’s Supercycle, and was honorary Ringmaster of the Shriner’s Circus. Stan served his country in the Army and was a member of the Chrisman American Legion Post 477. He was an accomplished carpenter and craftsman, enjoyed helping his nephew on the farm, as well as fishing and hunting. Stan and Carol enjoyed 15 years of wintering at Dauphin Island, Ala. He was a Cardinals fan.
Services were June 19, at Robison Chapel in Catlin. Pastor James Blue officiated. Military honors were provided by Chrisman American Legion Post 477. Memorials to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital in St. Louis in his memory. On-line condolences at www.robisonchapel.com.
