Meet ‘art-ish 2022 visual artist, Whitney Tates.

Whitney Tates is a visual artist and muralist inspired by nature, outer space, sound, and color. As a graduate of Centenary College of Louisiana, their goal has always been to peel back the curtains that hide the things we're afraid to talk about. Whitney’s work has been showcased across Louisiana. They have also created and collaborated on several murals in Louisiana and Dallas, TX. Whitney currently lives and works in Shreveport, Louisiana building a new body of work and collaborating with other Shreveport artists on murals.

This will be Whitney’s second year exhibiting at ‘art-ish.

Meet ‘art-ish 2022 visual artist, Kalandra Jones.

Kalandra Jones is a self-taught painter, muralist, affirmation-enthusiast, and portrait artist from Shreveport, Louisiana. Kalandra studied graphic design and social media management at Full Sail University. Much of her work is inspired by plants and flora native to her home state, the healing properties of gemstones, and the encouragement, upliftment and reassurance of black people. In her works, she uses locally sourced flowers, wood, gemstones and other elements of nature for both their symbolic and aesthetic properties.

Kalandra promotes joy, pleasure, and self reflection in her work. She believes that visual art can be used as a tool to heal trauma, and embrace joy, pleasure, and the vast scope of the African American experience.

Kalandra’s goal is to further reach underserved communities and peoples with large scale art installations and art in places of communion. She currently has a gallery inside the The Artist
and & Entrepreneur Center Downtown, where she brings her imagination to life.

This will be Kalandra’s second year exhibiting at ‘art-ish.

Meet ‘art-ish 2022 visual artist, Justin Jackson.

Justin is a 2022 graduate of Southwood High School. He has been a student of Caddo Parish Schools’ Gifted and Talented Arts program since the age of 5. Justin’s future goals are to attend a local community college and study graphic design. He then plans to move to a four year university that concentrates on the arts. Justin offers commissioned artwork by request. He is currently collaborating with Neighborhoodteacher on art events, programs and other ventures to help young black and brown artists locally.

This will be just Justin's second year exhibiting at ‘art-ish.

Meet ‘art-ish 2022 vendor, Yolanda Holden.

Yolanda Holden is the owner of Yolanda’s Heavenly Scent Candles, a black-owned business in Shreveport, LA. Yolanda’s Heavenly Scent Candles began as an idea to memorialize the loss of
her brother. They now carry a variety of styles and scents, and specialize in custom-made candles for special events, athletic teams, aroma therapy, and more.

Teryan Mays, known T-Time by his supporters, is a self taught artist from Shreveport, LA. Teryan’s passion for art was recognized at a very young age. He strives to use his art to inspire, motivate, and uplift others. Teryan feels a unique responsibility to live a life that will inspire the youth and to impact the community through his work.

This will be Teryan's second year exhibiting at ‘art-ish.
