In case you were stuck at home, work or just couldn’t make it out on the actual Veteran’s Day, we would like to say thank you this weekend to all of our military veterans.

Come out and see us this weekend for FREE. That’s right, all military veterans get in free this Saturday and Sunday as our way of saying thank you for your service. We hope someone is able to bring you to the park and make lasting memories with you feeding animals, encountering new species and just simply enjoying what is left of Fall.

Also, be on the lookout for Santa pic announcements this weekend with dates and details (bring your animal from home to take pics with Santa 🐶🐱!). We will also have an exciting Black Friday announcement. So stay tuned!!!

Lonesome Dove Drive Thru Safari Park and Sanctuary is located at 1782 N US Hwy 59 in Jefferson, Texas. We have over 600 animals and 90 different species. So there is something for everyone.

Open 10:30 -4:30 last car in. Bottle baby feedings at open and again at 2:30. Train rides every 30 minutes weather permitting.

➡️ Our Middle School/High School swim program is designed for swimmers in grades 5 through 12 who want to represent their school during competitive swim meets but wouldn't otherwise have anywhere to practice. Most area public and private middle schools and high schools are represented, but we're always looking for more!

➡️ Middle schoolers compete in the spring and high schoolers compete in the fall (but each is welcome to train during the semester in which they're not competing). Meets will be held in both Shreveport and Ruston (dates TBA but will be on Saturdays).

‼️Spring semester: Monday, January 20 thru Thursday, April 17, 2025‼️

➡️ There are three practices per week (Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.) that are run by Coach Tara Hardin and her staff.

➡️ Both experienced and inexperienced swimmers are welcome.

➡️ All four competitive swim strokes will be covered: Freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly.

➡️ Swimmers will work on technique, endurance, and developing a love for the sport. Practices will be held in our heated indoor pool.

The Highland Blessing Dinner is a free, family-style community meal hosted by Highland Center Ministries each Thursday at 5:30 pm!

🍗 This month, our Thanksgiving meal will be celebrated on Thursday BEFORE, November 21, at 5:30 pm.🍗

VETERANS DAY HOLIDAY SCHEDULE
FOR GARBAGE COLLECTIONS
The City of Shreveport offices will be closed on Monday, November 11th, 2024, for Veterans Day.
Due to this holiday, there will be a change in the garbage collection schedule. Below you will find
the revised schedule.
Monday November 11, 2024 Holiday: No garbage collected. City closed.
Tuesday November 12, 2024 Monday’s garbage will be collected.
Wednesday November 13, 2024 Tuesday’s garbage will be collected.
Thursday November 14, 2024 No change in garbage collections.
Friday November 15, 2024 No change in garbage collections.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
No bulk collections will be scheduled for this week. All heavy items called in will be scheduled
for a future collection day. If you need additional information or would like to request a heavy
item (bulk) pick up, please call the Solid Waste Office at (318) 673-6300.
The Woolworth Road Regional Solid Waste Facility will be open on Monday, November 11th.
For more information about this facility, you may call (318) 925-3500.
