This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of southwest North
Carolina...east Tennessee and southwest Virginia.
DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight

Strong gusty winds are expected across the mountains and
foothills of the East Tennessee mountains through this evening.
Southerly winds of 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph possible.
A wind advisory is in effect.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday
..Threat of Severe Storms Wednesday Afternoon and Evening...

Severe storms are becoming more likely across the entire area for
Wednesday afternoon and evening. The main concern will be
damaging winds with a squall line coming into the forecast area.
However, isolated tornadoes are possible, especially across the
Plateau and southeast Tennessee. Isolated hail up to 1 inch size
is also possible.
SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotter activation may be needed Wednesday afternoon and evening.

Tennessee Department of Forestry is working the Millstone gap fire. they are setting backfires and will not leave until the fire is out. They have 70 personell working the fire. the smoke you see looks lower on the mountain because of very low humidity which is currently 29%. They will not be leaving until the fire is out , Air Drops were being conducted today.

Wears Valley Road is open Saturday as crews continue to fight wildfires in Sevier County, according to the Waldens Creek Volunteer Fire Department. Firefighters from across Tennessee continue to work towards containing the two fires that have burned more than 3,000 acres in four days.

The Hatcher Mountain-Indigo Road fire is 85% contained as of 11 a.m. More than 300 structures have been affected. While Wears Valley Road is open, others are still closed including Indigo Road, Hatcher Mountain Road, Bell Field Way, Wildcat Road, Bear Springs Way, Spurling Way, Hurlburt Way, Little Valley Road, South Helton Road, Cove Creek Way, and portions of North Clear Fork Road (from Waldens Creek Road to Coopers Hawk Way) and Happy Hollow Road (from Teaberry Mountain Lane to Wears Valley Road), among others.

A map showing evacuation areas still closed to residents and visitors, as well as closed road is avaialble online at the link below.

The Dupont fire near Seymour is now 25% contained. That fire has burned about 643 acres and at least on structure in Blount County has been affected.

As firefighters continue to get more of the two fires contained, some departments are leaving after their hours of hard work. The Knoxville Fire Department said it expected that Saturday would be the last day for their crews to be working the fire after putting out hot spots overnight.

A 2 Car accident that happened at @ 3;15 P.M. still has 1 lane blocked on 411 hwy . Svfd Sevier County Ambulance And SCSD responded . 1 person was transported to an area hospital . This accident is near Dot's Deli. THP and SCSD are investigating. Use Caution in this area.

A three car accident held up traffic on Chapman Highway near the old Floyd's Market for about 45 minutes. One vehicle rolled over several times after being struck. 2 patients were injured and Cared for by Sevier County Ambulance. 1 was transported. Sevier County SD . Seymour, Fire and THP. responded.No report on severity of injuries at this time.

Knox County hazmat working on tanker truck plugging leaks .The major leak has been stopped.but still minor leaks . According to officials on the scene Chapman Highway will be closed for quiet a while longer , untill noon or later. The detour Northbound is at Highland View Rd. The detour Southbound is at Hendron's Chaple rd. TDOT Is on scene handling traffic.
