A more true image has never been depicted, the struggle is real!

Google Business Listings: You're Officially Crazier Than International Espionage

Oh, Google Business Listings, where do I even begin? You've reached a level of crazy that I thought was only reserved for Cold War spy games.

This morning, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, I embarked on the epic quest of re-recording a video verification for a Google Business listing. Why? Because apparently, my previous Oscar-worthy performance failed to "prove affiliation with the property." (Seriously, Google, what did you want? A blood oath? A choreographed dance with the building owner?)

Remember the good old days when proving "allegiance" to a business was as simple as checking a box? Pepperidge Farm remembers. But apparently, you, Google, decided to throw those rules out the window and replace them with a chaotic game of Blind Man's Bluff.

Just when I thought I'd navigated your labyrinth of hidden requirements, you threw me another curveball. While setting up a Gmail account for a client, you forced me to create a business listing (talk about a hostile takeover!). But wait, there's more! You then offered verification via text (gasp!), which was shockingly...accepted.

For a fleeting moment, I felt a glimmer of hope. Maybe, just maybe, I had conquered the beast. I poured my heart and soul into the listing, adding photos, descriptions, and even a haiku about the business's commitment to customer service.

Then, BAM! Like a slap in the face, I received an email: "Your Business Profile has been suspended due to policy violation."

A policy violation? Which one of your 1,723,895 obscure guidelines did I accidentally violate this time, Google? Did I use the wrong font? Did my photo have too many pixels? Was my haiku not up to par?

Google Business Listings, you are a cruel and fickle mistress. You've officially surpassed international espionage as the most convoluted and unpredictable entity on this planet. I'm starting to think my sanity will be the next casualty in this twisted game.

I grew up in a proud blue-collar family, where building and construction were the very foundation of our lives. These trades were the backbone of my father, grandfathers, uncles, and countless others before them. While I chose marketing as my career path, my heart has always been deeply connected to the craftsmanship that shaped my upbringing.

I have a genuine love for working alongside builders and fabricators, using my skills and expertise to help them grow their businesses. There’s something truly magical about watching a craftsman pour their skill and dedication into creating a product that will eventually find its way into the hands of a consumer. It’s a reminder of the hard work, precision, and pride that goes
into every detail.

My grandfather, Don Richards, was a welder, and I often wish I had learned that skill from him. There’s something captivating about watching someone weld—it’s almost like watching art come to life through fire and metal. Oddly enough, it takes me back to my childhood, evoking a sense of nostalgia and a deep respect for the trades that built my family and so many others like us.

Not long ago, Ray and I had the opportunity to create a video for APOC Industries. During our time touring their facility and capturing footage, I couldn’t resist taking a few photos. It was an inspiring experience to see their team in action, showcasing the very essence of what makes this industry so remarkable. They entrusted us with a commemorative jar of moonshine, crafted to raise awareness for Friends of the Smokies, and asked us to take it out into the heart of the Park for a stock photo shoot. I’ll never forget that beautiful fall day—wandering along streams, chasing the perfect light, and finding those magical spots that truly captured the spirit of the Smokies. The Art of Bracketing - Capturing Every Detail with HDR At RBA Marketing, we believe that photography is not just about capturing a moment; it's about capturing every detail, nuance, and emotion that the scene evokes. To achieve this level of precision, especially in interior photography—whether residential or commercial—we employ a technique known as bracketing. For each photograph, we typically shoot a bracket of nine exposures. This approach allows us to create High Dynamic Range (HDR) images that are both compelling and realistic, representing the property with stunning accuracy. What is Bracketing? Bracketing in photography involves taking several shots of the same scene at different exposure levels. By adjusting the exposure settings between each shot, we can capture the full range of light and shadow within the scene. This technique is particularly useful in interior photography, where the contrast between bright windows and shadowed corners can be too extreme for a single exposure to handle effectively. Why Nine Exposures? At RBA Marketing, we typically shoot a bracket of nine exposures. This extensive range allows us to capture every possible detail, from the darkest shadows to the brightest highlights. By having such a broad range of exposures, we ensure that no detail is lost, no matter how subtle. This is crucial in interior photography, where the goal is to present the space in the best possible light—literally and figuratively. Creating HDR Photos Once we've captured our bracketed exposures, the next step is to merge them into a single HDR image. This process combines the best elements of each exposure, resulting in a photo rich in detail and color. The final HDR image offers a more realistic representation of the scene, closely resembling what the human eye perceives in real life. My upbringing was pretty regular, in a classic blue-collar family. My mom worked as a secretary for a trucking company, while my dad owned a small construction business. He was incredibly hard-working, and I owe my strong work ethic to him. From my mom, I learned the lesson that with enough determination, I could achieve anything. Not long ago, I was creating content for our clients at Sensible Concrete Works LLC. It’s work I genuinely enjoy because it allows me to be both creative and helpful in promoting their services. The task at hand was to film the process of spreading gravel for concrete floors. On my way to the site, I was wondering how to make filming gravel interesting. But once I arrived, everything fell into place. My past experiences in construction, from my childhood and early adult years, came flooding back. These memories helped me create a piece that not only showcased the process but also connected deeply with my own personal history.
