The Gateway To Sedona Story

GatewayToSedona.com was the brainchild of Victoria and Chuck Oldham back in 2002. At that time, there were no photo-oriented websites about Sedona, (can you even imagine that?) but the internet had now developed to the point where photos could be larger and load faster. Victoria designed the website in April of 2002, and the public roll-out occurred on July 4th. The first issue included fun articles surrounded by digital photo galleries of the beautiful views (taken with a 5 megapixel camera). Feature articles included “Showcase Homes,” antique car shows and art festivals going on in Sedona at that time. There was also a feature story on the Sedona Cultural Park, now long defunct. While Victoria expanded the website, Chuck drove around Sedona taking pictures. Our mission statement was — and still is — “Gateway To Sedona the online magazine and directory promoting Sedona in photo-essay style.” Chuck Oldham sadly passed away after a long illness in 2014 at the age of 64. For those who don’t know, Chuck was much loved by many Sedona friends and a brilliant, accomplished sculptor whose wildlife works in porcelain were used by past US Presidents as gifts to other nation’s heads of state.

Today, Gateway To Sedona is a publication of Range Dog Publishing Inc and co-owned by partners Victoria Oldham and Tim Ernster, former City Manager of Sedona for almost 6 years. Tim lost his beautiful wife Helen at only 60 years old in late 2013—so we are more than fortunate and blessed to have found each other.

Always evolving, in addition to photos and stories, we are now enjoying adding the dimension of music and video. In closing, many people who visit Sedona can relate to the message of this song: On the Road to Sedona. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KTe09BS2R8Q&feature=youtu.be
