American Legion Post 38, VFW Post 6461 was joined by the City of Fountain Saturday to celebrate Veterans Day at the Legion Post.

Legion Post 38 Commander John Langley gave a short speech about the sacrifices made by America's veterans and how their work has helped keep our country free.

A second speaker, LTC (Ret) Michael Epper also spoke about the service to country given by veterans. Epper is Associate Athletic Director for Human Capital Management at the USAFA.

Fountain Mayor Sharon Thompson represented the City at the ceremony.

Widefield School District 3 Mesa Ridge HS dinner tonight

The Empty Bowls Soup Dinner is tonight (Monday, Nov. 11) at Mesa Ridge High School from 5:30-7:00 p.m.

Sample some of the most delish homemade soups in town! There will be handmade soup bowls created by art students for sale along with recipe cards and other fun activities.

All proceeds go to providing Grizzly families in need with Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets.

The American Legion Oratorical Contest exists to develop deeper knowledge and appreciation for the U.S. Constitution among high school students.

Since 1938, the program has presented participants with an academic speaking challenge that teaches important leadership qualities, the history of our nation’s laws, the ability to think and speak clearly, and an understanding of the duties, responsibilities, rights and privileges of American citizenship.

City of Fountain Government Bandley Road closures next week (Nov 12-13)

Hey Fountain!
There will be a road closure on Bandley Road from just north of Crest Drive and south of the vacant SCI Building beginning on Tuesday, November 12th, at 7:00 am through Wednesday, November 13th, to 5:00 pm. This closure is necessary to safely install the storm sewer pipe in this area. Please contact 719-322-2000 with any questions.

Colorado Springs' "In Their Honor" Veterans Day parade will start tomorrow (Saturday) at NOON.

In Their Honor Veterans Day Parade, will continue the tradition of honoring our military in downtown Colorado Springs.

Under the management of Colorado International Events, this parade will take place on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at NOON, and will run along Tejon Street from St. Vrain Street to Vermijo Avenue.
