DJ Paco, Chetbong and Han Cholo

Past:

Originally formed by five friends: Edip "Turk" Oner, Frank "Paco" Cardoza, Colby "Colby B", Elijah Evanson (Strongheart visuals) and Chester "Chetbong"Bungabong. The Still Ill posse has been djing individually around Seattle since the early 00s. They each shared a mutual love for EDM music which is how the eventually formed Still Ill as a EDM DJ night and collective of DJs.

Colby B and Paco used to DJ together at Chop Suey for a 18+ night called: Club Pop. They found success opening for: Tommy Sunshine, Tim Sweeney (DFA Records), Le Castlevania (ATL), Ian Svenvoius (Make-Up, Weird War, etc.), Calvin Johnson (K Records), and bands like Chromatics and Glass Candy (Italians Do It Better Records). That night came to a end around 2009.

Turk and Elijah met at Seattle Art Institute became friends and made a music video for local band, Xiu Xiu (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJFmpLvofrM).

Turk and Paco ended up playing a weird house party at DJ Emmanuelle's (formally Superjew) apartment. You know one of those, "I'm about to move out of my apartment, I wanna throw a rager, I'm in my early 20's kinda parties."

Turk and Paco became friends from that night on and wanted to start a night with Colby B, she had all the connections. Elijah was the man behind all of our visuals and had worked on a bunch of video games for Airtight Games. and Chetbong, because we didn't already have enough DJ's.

Even though we were around for a short time we found success playing at defunct clubs: Mcleod Residence (RIP), King Cobra (RIP), Chop Suey and random underground parties but somehow booked Villains from LA and Andy Pry (TIKI DISKO, NYC) as headliners...

Unable to find a club to call home they ran out of steam and went on hiatus...

Present: Paco went on to his first love of spinning Britpop and Indie dance with Chetbong and Elijah on visuals.

After getting tired of playing anglo-rock he went back to his roots and re-imaged Still Ill as a Hip Hop night and talked Chetbong into partnering up. Still Ill started to gain a following and they added our current long-term residents: DJ Hefe and Cucuy (Rolling Old School DJs at 418 Public House and Whittier Blvd at Lucky Liquor) all this momentum has lead Chetbong and Paco to start several new monthly’s and have finally decided to go legit.

Turk races motorcycles and is currently ranks #1 in the PNW amateur division.

Colby B has moved to NYC and has found great success in the DJ community there.
