I’d rather talk to you at 3am than talk at your funeral. Nothing worse than losing a friend because they didn't think they have anyone to talk to 😢.

Wheew...JAMILA JAM 14 is in the books! It was a good turnout and a great night over all...
I would like to thank you personally on behalf of me and my family for making our annual memorial for JAMILA RENEA ALBA .
We appreciate everybody's time and skills that were donated to make this a big one... See it was a huge one for us. Jamila was 14 when she passed and our lives changed, and now we've endured for the same amount of time, 14 years. So this year not only was it a memorial for my baby but a celebration of us making it this far without her. That said we thank everyone that helped make it so great.. Tammy Alba

When a child dies, it feels like there's been a double death -- the death of the child, and the death of the parent. Even breathing doesn't feel "alive" any more. Every day is a struggle just to get through. There simply aren't words to adequately explain this pain.

Even when life begins moving along okay again, the pain is still there. Losing a child hurts more than words can ever explain.

It's so unreasonable, really, of the expectations we have for grieving parents. Somehow they are supposed to get up following the death of their child and figure out how to function in a world that is totally foreign to them since their child died. They're supposed to conduct business as usual at work, at school, at home, at church, among friends, and within the family. The truth is --it just doesn't work that way. It takes lots and lots of time to figure out how to live again.

There really are no words to completely explain the pain of losing a child. Can you even begin to imagine what it would be like to never see your child again? That's just the very beginning of this grief journey. This pain is life-long and complicated and the heartache never goes away.

Everywhere I look the same thought races through my mind. "My child should be here." No matter how long it's been, that thought is always lingering in the shadows of my mind. My child has missed so much, and life has lost so much meaning since my child left. Every joyful occasion is blanketed with thoughts that my child is not here, and that hurts clear to the center of my soul.

So many grievers never knew it was as the last time they would see their loved one, the last hug or conversation or smile. Some were there with their loved one as they took their last breath. So many grievers never had a last good bye.

Sometimes it may help a griever to write a letter to their loved one who died saying all the things they would have said to them. Some grievers will share the words they would have said with a counselor or a dear friend. Some speak out loud to their loved one who they lost. Often we would have wanted a last chance to tell our loved one thank you , or we love them, or say we are sorry, or tell them we will miss them.

Some grievers who never had that last goodbye are changed. After their loss many begin to treat others in their life as if that hug, love you, conversation or goodbye may be their last. And they tell loved ones that they love and appreciate them in the moment. They take nothing for granted anymore. They don’t assume they have more time.
