Updates to 8B Media, Capital Raise Plan, and Relentless
Dear Friends and Family,
Tomorrow we wrap what has been a four-month capital raise process, consisting of:
• two months spent overhauling the business plan and pitch deck,
• two weeks of sharing bits of our pitch daily through drip marketing, and
• six weeks of active pitching and outreach to potential investors.
Over the last two months, we have spoken to many people, including those of you receiving this message. These people come from many walks of life such as film and TV producers, writers, and directors; journalists and publishers; lawyers, investment bankers, entrepreneurs, mid- to senior-level corporate managers, and more. Each conversation was both productive and constructive, and has helped us to assess and adjust our path.
After careful consideration based on information gathered over the last two months, a decision had been made to put our capital raise efforts on hold. The core reason being that the timing is just not right, for a number of reasons, while all signs point to adjusting our strategy.
We will be focusing on the first (and furthest along) project at-hand. It is also content that is unique, compelling, and entertaining.
RELENTLESS: a Survivor's Search, for Passion, Purpose, and Inner Peace has been steadily building momentum, including:
• over 2/3 of the book complete, and deep into negotiations with significant publishers (with strong media and marketing plans),
• season 1 of the podcast nearing completion, with the last few episodes currently being mastered,
• our first affiliate advertiser attached, and
• interest being generated for featured interviews on major national news networks.
With these facts, and guidance from publishers and journalists alike, we are shifting our launch strategy.
We will launch the podcast at the same time as the book (versus launching the podcast Memorial Day weekend and the book months later), which will also coincide with the potential news features. This plan will optimize audience and revenue potential for book sales as well as listeners and advertising revenue. Additionally, it will give us time to seek out and secure more advertisers. Moreover, the book and podcast will provide an opportunity to secure capital for the screen adaptation, acting as a calling card of sorts.
Meanwhile, we will continue developing a number of projects thanks to our development team, including our new development intern whose first day showed significant promise.
The future is bright, and as long as we continue to assess and adapt, we will reach our goals. We will continue identifying stories and storytellers that touch the human spirit fearlessly, and we will continue working toward developing and producing those stories at the highest level.
Stay tuned.
