I often think of music or zines as artifacts, documents of a piece of history. The rarer the occurrence, the more significant the artifact. The songs released by Funny Goofy Records are definitely artifacts in the highest order. There is no digital copy, the physical copies are strictly limited to 100 copies, and once they are gone, they are gone. Vol.2 Features indie rockers “Softjaw” and “Clown Sounds” with front cover art by Jackson. Get your copy NOW.
has clean and catchy vocals over fuzzy guitar and percussion that gets your foot tapping. The verse comes in quickly and then goes back to the chorus of “Don’t go walking out..on me”. This leads to a nice breakdown section that opens up the sound to a build up that drops us back into the chorus. A quick and uniquely crafted song that stays interesting throughout.
Clown Sounds have a catchy bright rock and roll tone driven by impactful lyrics. The lyrics are delivered with emotion and a p***y edge that I’m fond of. The lyrical style is unique, but kind of reminds me of how Mick Jagger delivers his vocals, with a lot of unique emphasis on certain sounds. The guitar is bright and clear with some nice twangy sections that give it a slight rockabilly edge. These tones contrast nicely with the brighter guitar segments. This has the sound of a tight group that enjoys what they are doing.
