Happy Holidays from Motivo Media!

As we look through the highlights of the past year, we’re filled with gratitude for our amazing clients and all of the rewarding experiences that 2024 provided. We expanded our team; received film festival nominations; interviewed doctors, scholars, govt officials, gig workers, activists, and an indigenous tribe, among many others; shot a TV pilot in front of a massive LED wall; and had the opportunity to film all over the United States, Spain, Colombia, the United Kingdom, India, and the Amazon Rainforest.

Cheers to another year of collaboration, creativity, and meaningful storytelling.

Earlier this year, Motivo CEO Tim Hedberg had the opportunity to spend over a week in the Amazon Rainforest, filming content for a short documentary with the Casilla Naira community, a vibrant mix of 12 different ethnicities, including Huitoto, Tikuna, Andoke, and Matapi.

The stories uncovered were deeply inspiring and aligned perfectly with our mission at Motivo Media to create work that truly captures the heart and engages the mind.

We look forward to sharing more about this project.

Recently, the Motivo team flew out to Los Angeles to film the pilot for a fascinating educational show about the nature of genius hosted by neuroscientist Jared Cooney Horvath - PhD, MEd. We're eager to share the finished episode, but in the meantime, check out these behind-the-scenes images from our multifaceted shoot that utilized the innovative technology of the Unreal Engine on a massive LED wall that allowed us to create virtual environments limited only by our imaginations. Between animation, VFX, and eye-opening neuroscience, this will be one you won't want to miss.

We’re honored to have won Best Editing for our short documentary 'JAWBONED' at the 2024 Anthem Film Festival! A huge thank you to our amazing editing team who made this possible!

JAWBONED investigates the distinction between normal political advocacy and unconstitutional government coercion, a key brought before the Supreme Court in Murthy v. Missouri and NRA v. Vullo earlier this year.

With the 2024 Wyoming International Film Festival closing we are taking a look back at our short documentary, ‘Bitcoin Cowboys: Will Wyoming Become the Next Crypto Capital?’ which was featured last year.

The film explores the intersection of cryptocurrency and regulation in Wyoming’s audacious journey towards becoming the crypto capital of the United States.

We had a wonderful time at the Seattle Film Festival capturing footage of the event and conducting interviews with sports commentator Kenny Mayne and Olympic gold medalist Sugar Ray Seales, both of whom had short documentaries in the festival.

Team Spotlight: Levi, Head of Production • Meet Levi Smock, the newest member of the Motivo Media team. He has over 15 years' experience in the film industry and MFAs from The American Film Institute Conservatory as both a Screenwriting and Producing Fellow. He's produced an array of content, such as commercials, music videos, documentary television, VR and AR experiences, and feature films. And he's led production for several of the largest media brands, including Buzzfeed and DreamworksTV. We're excited for all the great work we'll do together!

On January 10, 2024, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) unveiled its final rule concerning the classification of workers as employees or independent contractors under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

A New Dawn of Workplace Regulation: The Gig Economy features labor law experts and gig economy workers who provide insights into the advantages and challenges confronting independent contractors within the dynamic realm of the “gig economy.”

This short documentary, made for the Regulatory Transparency Project, explores the historical evolution of worker classification, tracking the changes in the DOL’s rules during both the Trump and Biden administrations and examining different actions at the state level.
