Come join our next class for Introduction to Bookbinding (2-5 Feb 2025) at Arbutus Folk School! This will be an evening class where we discuss and practice the fundamentals of bookbinding. Each student leaves with their own, handmade book and a Bookbinder’s Essential toolkit!

It’s a great time and we always have a blast. Getting to know one another while learning this craft is a true joy.

This is a 12-hour workshop on the fundamentals of hardcover bookbinding using traditional case-binding methods and sewn signatures/booklets. Each student will learn how to bind books using equipment that is readily available and easy to replicate at home, while making an approximately 6" x 9" pers.....

Wedding Album I completed recently - just getting around to posting some pictures of the finished work. Full leather (goat) binding with "Matador" red for the spine and "Orchid" purple for the covers.

The custom designs I worked out are of the Bride & Groom's favorite flowers: orchid and peony. I decided to do an alternating approach, with the orchid mainly in silver with gold accents and the peony in gold with silver accents.

I'll post a link to my website soon where I'll outline some more detail about my process and the tools I worked with.
