Wardrobe essentials: SHAPEWEAR
With so many different styles out there, you may be wondering which ones to wear and when to wear them.
From camisoles and tank tops to slips to leggings, let me show you with help from my friends at @joyshapershop . They offer a huge range of shapewear and at affordable prices.
💁🏻♀️Shapewear Tips and Considerations:
- Different types for outfits- whether you want to just layer under top or a dress, and depending on the length that you need
- Level of compression- from lightweight smoothing to heavy duty with boning, consider how much compression you need
- Access- how will you get it on or off? If it’s a bodysuit consider gussets or adjustable snaps
- Stay put & support- from sticky tape seaming to minimize roll downs, to underwire, padding, boning or straps
- Colors- from skin tone, to neutrals, which color will you get the most use from
- Always step into your shapewear vs trying to put it on over your head
There’s a shapewear solution for you that meets your needs and budget.

🚫Don’t shop online until you watch this!
Let me show you how to save 💰money and time⌚️as well as increase the chances of you finding the items you’re looking for.
In the continuation of my Closet Styling Series, part 3️⃣ was about refreshing your wardrobe, and many of you saw that there were key items you were missing and are now in the process of trying to buy them online.
🗒️So I’ve compiled a list of some of my favorite tips for online wardrobe shopping. This covers before you start shopping, during and afterwards. Here’s what I covered:
1) create a prioritized list of the items you’re shopping for along with an estimated budget per item.
2) have a list of 1-3 sites that you want to shop at
3) if you’re a new customer, check to see what discounts they offer. Many sites will give you a special one time discount code for creating an account, signing up for their email or text, or downloading their app. You will want to do this before you purchase so that you have the discount code in time for your purchase.
4) go onto Rakuten to see if you can get cash back on your purchase. An incredible amount of retailers participate in their cashback program. From Nordstrom to Sephora to Nike, you name it. Find the site you’re looking for, click the button and it will take you to the site, that’s it. Use my referral code www.rakuten.com/r/JUDY5349 to get a $30 cashback bonus. I have personally been using Rakuten for years.
5) once you start shopping, look for your items first via a search query. Then use relevant filters to help you narrow down options. Like size, price, brand.
6) if there are more items you want to think about later, add them to a wish list or save them for later, depending on the site’s functionality. This way you can also get alerts on any price drops!
💁🏻♀️I hope that my tips are helpful for you as you are strategically refreshing your closet. If you missed any of my closet styling series, please fe
Q: What’s something we might all want…but have a hard time finding ones that work?
A: Dresses!
🛍️And no wonder why…here’s some bonkers dresses facts:
- Nordstrom.com 21,306 dresses options show up
- Anthropologie.com 4,045 dresses are available
- freepeople.com 2,118 dresses
So how do you have a better chance of finding dresses that work for you?
🙋🏻♀️Some tips to help you:
✅ focus on what you want the dress to do for you. Accentuate an area? Minimize an area? Be extra comfy?
✅ use stretchy fabrics as your friend. Stretch will provide comfort and forgiveness. Same goes for ruching, this will provide extra stretch where there’s ruching such as a waistline
✅ use prints or colors strategically. Think vertical stripes, animal print to focus eyes on the print, dark colors to slim
✅ lengths can be your friend. Shorter lengths to show off your legs or maxi length to elongate and make you look taller
✅ detailing to draw your eyes somewhere or deflect them. For instance, asymmetrical necklines will draw eyes to the exposed area, same thing with cut outs
✅ read reviews if available, pay particular attention to fit and whether the brand or style runs small, TTS or large
✅ if you have a dress and it’s a scooch too small, wear strong compression undergarments. I *always* wear one
✅ layer dresses! That’s right! Wear a shirt dress over pants, layer a mesh turtle neck under a sleeveless dress, wear a cardigan over a dress, wear tights to keep your legs warmer
✅ accessorize your dresses with belts, brooches, scarves
I wanted to show some common silhouettes and styles to help illustrate how they can they can meet your different needs.

🙋🏻♀️Who here loves a lounge set?
You know I’m a huge fan of these for the versatility, comfort and great looks.
I wanted to show a different, fun option with this lighter weight set that has eye catching contrast stripes (comes in many colors). I think a lighter weight option is great because you can wear it year-round. Think that you can only wear these lounging around the house? Let me show you how to style a great set like this different ways:
☑️ Together. Always a great option and a nice alternative to sweats or leggings
☑️ Layered with a high contrast base layer underneath the top. I love showing fun pops of color
☑️ Layered with a vest over the top
☑️ Dressed up glam! That’s right, mixing casual + dressy is a fun way to mix styles

‼️Want to DOUBLE your FUN with over the knee length boots?
My style hack will show you exactly how to do that!
☝🏼Over the Knee - regular way
✌🏼Under the Knee - slouchy way! Using my scrunch & tuck method. Scrunch your boots down so they are slouchy, then tuck 1-3” of the top inwards! The tuck will ensure the top stays secure.
✅STYLING TIPS:
• if wearing pants, skinny leg jeans or leggings are great under your boots
• wear tall socks under your boots but have the top of your socks showing for some contrast. Example: black boots with tall pink socks peeking out
• layer tights under for warmth
• want a more low-key OTK look? Go monochromatic in a neutral color like beige
• want to punch up the drama? Wear a short skirt, dress or shorts with your boots
•shown: @cosyisland_official brown boots, @zara hot pink boots (old)

PART 2 /
Closet Series /
Reorganizing Your Edited Closet
In case you missed Part 1: Review & Edit your closet, check it out! Already done ✅ editing your wardrobe?
Here’s Part 2️⃣ of my series to get you more organized so you can… shop your closet better!
🔦By organizing or grouping your clothing into Classifications you’ll be able to see what you have easier to then start selecting your outfit
🗂️Classifiying in terms of your clothing is simply to group similar items together: Tops, Pants, Skirts, Dresses, Blazers, etc.
🗄️⚪️⚫️And organizing those classifications by light color to dark color, solids to prints.
📚Have a lot of a certain type of thing like Dresses? You can take it a step further by organizing them by grouping sundresses together or formal dresses together
👚👗👖By reorganizing your existing wardrobe you can scan what you have faster - AND identify missing gaps (e.g. nothing leopard print) - from there you can make a strategic decision to fill it in, or not.
Which that will bring us to Part 3️⃣ of my series, Refresh Your Closet! Stay tuned.
Planning on doing this all later? No worries, follow 🙋🏻♀️/ bookmark 🔖/ save 📍Part 1️⃣ & 2️⃣ to view later.
