The best podcast episodes are relaxed, fly on the wall conversations 🪰

Yes, give your episode structure and clarity with a general outline, but bring it to life with your REAL ASS VOICE

Sharing your voice can be scary and it's totally natural to want to stick to a script and control how you're coming across... very polished 💅

But that's not why people listen to your podcast...

If they wanted that they would have bought your book 📚

No, they want to hear you be a real person, not over-editing, not holding back from maybe messing up a bit!

(And don't worry, if you mess up that's why you've got an editor like me on your team 😉)

If you're having trouble relaxing or sounding like a real person when you record try this...

🎙Record from the couch or a cozy corner

🎙Hold a cup of tea in your hand (you don't even have to drink it. It'll send cozy signals to your brain just by being in your hand)

🎙Post a photo of your BFF on the wall behind your mic and speak your episode directly to her... (exactly how you would say it to her! Silly jokes, laughing, teeheeheein', pausing to think of a word, etc.!)

These will help you relax and seem like you're having a REAL conversation.

Now, we don’t love a 45 minute ramble-a-thon, but we don't want a robotic workplace explainer video either (You know the ones from HR?)

When we get so caught up on getting our podcast perfect, we lose the relaxed human element that makes podcasts so great 😌🎧

I don't want your podcast to become a source of stress during the holidays (or ever!) 🙅

You literally have so much to do...

Your podcast does not need to be taking up precious time and brain space...

As much as I love your podcast... I love you having a peaceful and joyful holiday even more 😊🎄

Here are the 4 tips I give my podcast clients to avoid stress during the holiday season...

1⃣️ BATCH RECORD HELLA EPISODES

Just get it outta the way.
Right now.
By the end of this week.

If you can, record as many episodes as you need to get you through to the 2nd week of January and pre-schedule them 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙

You're gonna be settling into the new year, getting your feet back under you...

Let New Year New You have one less thing to think about 🥴

2⃣️ LET GO OF LONGFORM AND RECORD SOME MINISODES

Seriously. These can be like 10 minutes long.
Boom. Done. You're welcome. 🎁

3⃣️ SCREW RECORDING AT ALL AND JUST REPURPOSE OLD EPISODES

What's this? The ghost of Christmas past? 👻
No, it's your old podcast episodes. Same energy, though.
Both came to teach us a valuable lesson! 📚

Grab a handful of your fav episodes and repackage them as "Best of" or "A Look Back." Audiences love a little year in review moment.

4⃣️ DROP IT LIKE A HOT POTATO AND TAKE A BREAK 🥔

Seriously, you deserve it. Take a nap.

Yes, ideally your podcast should be released as consistently as possible... 🤷‍♀️
But I'm a part of the "you're a human first" club (We meet on Wednesdays in the library)

Zoom out. It's okay if you miss a few episodes over the holidays ❤️

What a FANTASTIC message to wake up to from a client 🤩

This was a client I did some podcast pitching for and she had a wonderful time at one of her bookings. So glad to hear it.

Guesting on other peoples' pods is a great way to:

🎙 Create relationships with entrepreneurs you're aligned with
🎙 Increase your reach to a pre-established audience (potentially growing your own list 📩)
🎙 Make some great video/audio content for your own social media

Friendly reminder 🙌

❌ Your podcast doesn't need to top the charts...

❌ It doesn't need 1,000 downloads an episode...

❌ You don't need a million listeners...

Those things are all nice but...

If you're stressin about the numbers...😰

And it's bummin you out when you think about your pod...😞

Or keeping you from starting that pod you've been dreaming of starting...🤩

FORGET IT! FORGET THE NUMBERS! 🤯 (At least for now)

You don't need to reach a million people...

✅ You need to reach a handful of the RIGHT people ✅

How many client spots are you truly looking to fill? A million?? I highly doubt it.

For most entrepreneurial businesses, their main program is really only looking to fill 5-20 spots

So you don't need to reach a million people. You need to reach 5-20 (you'll reach more than that, but still....you get the 📸)

Moral of the story: ❌ Do not let the vanity metrics scare you! ❌

Only have 50 listeners? Great!

You have no idea how many of those 50 are getting closer and closer to being a paid client because they get so much value from you and your pod week after week 🙌

Keep making your pod. There are people who really look forward to hearing from you, whether you know it or not. ❤️
