Through Faith & Grace by Kira Gauthier

Through Faith & Grace by Kira Gauthier A Seattle-based Christ-follower shares what it is like to love God & people. Hey, how’s it going? My name is Kira. Welcome to my story. Give me a chance.

I am a Seattle-based Christian blogger and podcaster. I share my genuine thoughts, raw feelings, and sometimes embarrassing experiences. Please don’t stop reading here, my non-Christian friends. Let me introduce you to my life as a lover of Christ. Let’s be honest, I know that Christianity has gotten a bad reputation over the last couple of decades and the church hasn’t been the most loving. I ack

nowledge and apologize for your personal pain caused by the church. I wish it was different. I am not here to preach to you. I don’t have enough theology for that and never will, but I do want to share with you what it means to be a Christ-follower, like what it actually means. I’m not perfect. I will completely disappoint you at times if I haven’t already. Following Jesus is a life that doesn’t rely on an imperfect world, but relies on a perfect God. A life built on chasing Jesus is hard work, but I invite you along anyway. I am here to be completely honest with you as I will show you my thoughts, feelings, successes, failures, confusion, experiences, etc. in the style of a blog and podcast. If you are curious about this journey, despite if you are a Christian or not, stick with me and we’ll figure out how to live through faith & grace. WEBSITE: kiragauthier.com

"We read that all things work together for the good of those who love God, but what does it mean to claim that all things work together for good? God’s goodness seems complicated."

Since March 2021 I have been consistently posting weekly podcast episodes about my thoughts and experiences as a Jesus follower. I love it. I am passionate about sharing the beauty and grace found in the gospel alone. All I want to do is share the story of Jesus.

Over the last few weeks, transparently, I've become lazy in my walk in the Christian faith. I haven't read the Bible as much as I'd like to. I haven't prayed as often as I'd like to. My mind has been consumed with the world instead of the more remarkable things to come.

I want to do the work God has called me to do, but to do that, I need to seek The Lord in everything. I need to follow Him all the days of my life. I need to shift my priorities so I can lovingly share the gospel as I am called to.

With that said, I will be taking a short break from the podcast until January 2023. New episodes will come, but I just need some time with Jesus for now. I love you all. Thanks for all the support.

There is another way to do life and it's by following Jesus. The gospel offers hope and healing. 💛

Through Faith & Grace | Episode 66 | Biblical Marriage Rocks
Are wives really supposed to submit to their husbands? In today's episode, we look at the highly controversial passage, Ephesians 5, which shares the biblical model for marriage. I used to hate this chapter until I got more context. Let me explain.

No, technically it can't, but neither can theism or atheism. In today's episode, we look at two reasons why monotheism makes the most sense. Everything comes back to the cross. Let me explain.

I get where you’re coming from if you’ve walked away from the Church due to "bad Christians." I've made some horrendous mistakes myself. In today's episode, I share my response to the question: how can I believe in God when His followers are evil, hypocritical, judgemental, and in general fail to do a good job representing Jesus well?

Through Faith & Grace | Episode 56 | The Gospel Offers Complete Forgiveness
I have a hard time forgiving people, especially when they fail to apologize. The funny thing is apologies aren't biblical, and what I mean by that is we are called to forgive regardless if we ever receive an apology, reconciliation, or closure. Jesus forgives completely and so we are to completely forgive one another. This is what God's been putting on my heart.

Through Faith & Grace | Episode 53 | Why Should I Become a Christian?

One of the most common reasons people avoid Christianity is because they've already figured out how to do life without it, and I believe you. I get it. There's a reason why I do not follow a keto diet and it is because what I am doing works. But here's the thing, I think following Jesus is different because Christianity presents itself as history. The simple gospel is why you should consider becoming a Christian. Let me explain.

Did the universe have a beginning and if so, who or what was this beginner? These are the two questions we seek to answer in today's episode. We investigate thermodynamics, Einstein's initially laughable theory, a 200 million dollar NASA project, and the age-old question: if God created the universe, what created God?

Through Faith & Grace | Episode 51 | Three Reasons Why People Leave Christianity

If Jesus is as good as Christians proclaim, then why do so many people walk away from it? That's a hard yet valid question. In today's episode, we look at what I believe are the three most common reasons why this happens. This is why I wanted to leave.

Through Faith & Grace | Episode 50 | The WEAKEST Claim for Christianity

Christians will tell you that we can trust the Bible because the disciples died for their belief in Jesus, but isn't that a weak argument? People die for lies all the time, atheist Richard Carrier says so and I agree with him. In today's episode, we investigate the significance of this claim and what this implies about the reliability of the Bible.

Through Faith & Grace | Episode 49 | What Breaks My Heart Most About Atheism

Naturalism is the belief that everything about our universe can be explained with natural laws and forces, but if that's true, humans have no ontological worth or value. Staying consistent with this worldview, I wonder what do you think about yourself on your worst days? You matter and I believe you know you matter. Here's why.

"Ironically, I wrote a reflection on the book of Job a day before life grew tougher. Ironically, the morning I began writing this post, minutes later, I would hear the most difficult news I’d come to face. Ironically, I would listen to a sermon on doubt to find myself doubting the goodness of God soon after. It’s ironic but also perfect in a mysterious way."

Through Faith & Grace | Episode 48 | Is the New Testament Reliable?

We see discussion over what the Bible says and doesn't say, but let's be honest if the New Testament (Bible) is flawed then none of the material really matters. In today's episode, we explore the reliability of the NT by looking at two questions:

1) Do we have accurate copies of the original documents written in the first century?
2) Are these documents true?

https://youtu.be/3vsimu2hzkM

Jesus is irrelevant if the Bible is flawed. I believe this. In today's episode, we explore two major questions. Do we have accurate copies of the original do...

I've noticed this pattern with the identities we create. It begins with crafting some identity, choosing who will get to hold onto our scorecard, and then forcing ourselves to keep it up. Our value becomes dependent on the approval of our behavior and I do not know about you, but I've found that it's an exhausting way to live. These created identities are not bad, but they must come AFTER the gospel. Here's why:
