SEASON FINALE (ISH)

it’s that time again: to and log off for the remainder of the year. and what a year 2024 has been too.

i changed FT jobs, produced an audiobook on the side, drummed with people for the first time in a few years, refinanced some debt, paid off a chunk more, got a visit from back home (3 years later), met my new in-laws, and continued plugging away at this little life of mine. not to mention so much hockey-watchin with the sidekicks. definitely an upgrade from this time last year; these are the hills we climb.

so here’s to another safe holiday season for you and yours. 2025 (and beyond) is shaping up to be a doozy given all the *checks notes* you know…

NINE: today is the anniversary of when i first arrived in town.

from shoreline to woodinville to west seattle to the central district to mount baker to othello to lake city.

from broVo spirits to skylark cafe sound to lyft driving to high dive sound to puget sound puppers to playnetwork to snorkel hot tubs to hazy bay to amazon to century ballroom sound to larj media to vcv entertainment to live oak to washington athletic club. plus a helluva lot of freelance/independent production.

from gibraltar to wild english to brunch time ballers to bad saint to pilot cloud to devils hunt me down to craig jaffe to skates to rockndoc & the backbones to indigo seed to high romantics.

from zoloft to pristiq back to zoloft to wellbutrin to zoloft yet again to cymbalta & abilify.

to getting sober from alcohol and leaving my roaring 20s behind me. to smashing myself enough times until i finally feel whole.

so here’s to nine years of letting everything happen; the beauty and the terror.

i’m now a month into the new gig at Washington Athletic Club as their AV specialist + assistant banquet manager for meetings/events. absorbing so much onboarding like a sponge, i’m grateful for the team i’ve joined; inching closer to that elusive work/life balance.

plus- who would have thought suits would become such a regular part of my wardrobe now?

checking in here to wish y’all a belated Happy New Year, as well as an early Happy Lunar New Year (it’s the year of the Dragon, for those playing at home)

so what’s new?

*since i last posted i’ve grown into a new role with Live Oak as their Assistant Director of AV Hospitality, based out of the Marriott hotel in SeaTac. yes, i still have been working live events, though now some of my new responsibilities lie in the administrative side too

*still continuing to seek out the occasional hustle project, this new year has also seen me return to audiobook production. i’m leading the charge with Emily Cherkin—aka “The Screentime Consultant”—on her new book entitled “The Screentime Solution”

*lastly, and more of an earnest ask, i’m kicking around ideas for a new musical endeavor if any folks on the TL want to reach out? my mental health and covid-caution continue to be uphill challenges, though i have some ideas for what i want to accomplish in this new landscape of independent music and live performance; maybe this includes you?
