Are you left handed?

If so, today is YOUR day!

Did you know that just 10% of the population is left-handed?

Ahh! The coveted byline! In stories we see young and aspiring reporters work tirelessly to snag that coveted byline. But what exactly is a Byline?

Its actually exactly what is says!

A Byline is the name of the author appearing with the published piece. Depending on the format it may or may not start with "by" sometimes it just lists the authors name on a cover or title page. Other times the by line may have the phrase "written by" before the authors name. How ever it appears, it recognizes the work as belonging to the author listed and tells the reader who wrote the story.

Unless you are self-publishing a 1st draft of a story (not typically recommended) works will often go through one or more series of copy editing. But what does this really mean?

Copyediting is editing a manuscript for grammar, punctuation, printing style, and factual accuracy.

So with that in mind, copy editing is not done to alter the story's meaning or feel, but to make edits where needed to ensure the work is able to be read and understood by the target audience.

Contributor's Copies. What are they?

In a similar vein to Advance Reader's Copies, a Contributor copy is a copy of the book, magazine or journal where an author's work appears that is sent to each of the contributing authors. Not all publisher's offer this, and some may charge a nominal fee for a Contributor's Copy. Unlike Advance Reader Copies, Contributor Copies are typically copies of the final product rather than an early version.

A book Gallery can actually be a few different things, but generally refers to a collection of books, similar to an art Gallery. In the case of Jazz House Publishing, our Book Gallery is where you can see all of our past and currently published works.
