Breaking News

The vehicle of Kikuube RDC Amlan Tumusiime has been involved in a fatal accident this morning leaving two people dead at a place called Namayumba after Busunju. The occupants of the vehicle included 5 of his biological children being taken back to school and have been rushed to the nearby health centre IV of Namayumba for treatment. The Chairman LCV Kikuube Peter Banura is at the hospital right now taking care of the children. RDC Amlan was not in the vehicle. We condole with the families of the deceased and pray for a quick recovery of the Children.

-Kyangwali Refugee Camp, Uganda

Long time Kyangwali based humanitarian organizations driver, Mr. Valentine Ssemanda has been confirmed dead. According to some sources, the driver was from Hoima Regional Referral Hospital (Booma) carrying a dead body and those accompanying the body heading towards Kyangwali Refugee Settlement. This same unverified source told us that the ambulance Ssemanda was driving crushed into a tractor ending his life. The rest of the passengers survived but we are yet to confirm their condition.

Ssemanda has served the refugee camp of Kyangwali since 1997 and was a household name to both children and adults; those he transported in the ambulance when they were sick or those he gave ride to hoima or Kampala officially and unofficially. He served with multiple nonprofits operating in the refugee settlement including AAH, Medical Teams among others.

FORMER KASONGA TRADING CENTRE MAYOR DIES
-Hoima City | Houma Uganda

The former Kasonga Trading Center Mayor, Munzari also known to many as Baba Manu has been pronounced dead from Hoima City where he was receiving treatment. Munzari, one of this trading centre's longest serving mayors leaves many in Kyangwali and those overseas shocked by the sad news of his death. CNI can not confirm when he will be buried and whether his body will be take to the refugee settlement for the formal funeral proceedings.Stay tuned for an update on this sad story!

AFRICAN Giant Leader, President of Rwanda General Paul Kagame has ordered for immediate deportation of 18 Chinese nationals, "the 18 investors were found guilty of mistreating Rwandan workers and grubbing land on which they operated their business". President Kagame said.

Chinese investors exploited Rwandan people and also took advantage of them by making them work abnormal hours like slaves. "Africa is for Africans. We can't be slaves in Africa. We don't tolerate the nonsense of discrimination here" General Kagame added

"Rwanda is for Africans and those who mean well for us. I am directing the 18 Chinese investors to leave Rwanda immediately and must never return back. Rwandan people must enjoy their rights in their country. Let this be a lesson to the remaining Chinese investors" President Kagame warned

BKK HOSTS UGANDA BREWERIES OFFICIALS

Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom (BKK) has hosted officials from Uganda Breweries (UBL) who are in the region to explore business opportunities and social investments.

The officials were hosted by the Prime Minister of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom Owek. Andrew Byakutaga Ateenyi.
The BKK Chief Administrative Secretary Mr Katusabe Alex also attended the engagement.

The UBL team was led by the Uganda Breweries Acting Managing Director Ms. Eunice Waweru who is also the company's Finance & Strategy Director.

She was accompanied by Ms Juliana Kaggwa, the UBL Corporate Relations Director, Mr. Kawuki Joseph, the UBL Head of Agriculture and Mr. Balikagira Alfred, the UBL Supply Chain Director.

In the discussion, Uganda Breweries revealed their intention of supporting increased production of cassava, wheat, maize and apples which are some of the ingredients in making of beers and some spirits.

BKK and UBL have agreed on strategies and interventions of giving more support to farmers to enable them improve productivity and enhance their incomes.

The Kingdom is engaging and bringing on board more strategic partners who will offer support to Kabumba's subjects to enhance their livelihoods and improve on the quality of their lives.

BKK HOSTS SBC OFFICIALS

Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom (BKK) has hosted a team of officials from SBC Uganda Ltd, the company that was contracted by Government to construct Hoima International Airport.

The officials paid a courtesy call on the BKK Prime Minister Owek. Andrew Byakutaga Ateenyi.

They briefed him about the progress of the construction of the Airport and the various projects they are undertaking to support the social-economic livelihoods of the communities.

The construction of the Airport stands at 75%. SBC and BKK officials discussed projects which SBC Uganda intends to support under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.

The SBC team was led by Mr. Yariv Ofek, the newly appointed SBC Uganda’s Operations Manager. He was accompanied by his personal assistant Ms Jacqueline Magayane and the SBC Uganda’s Public Relations Officer Mr Amos Muriisa.

About the Airport

Hoima is set to host Uganda’s second International Airport. Construction work which started in April 2018 is expected to be finalized in February 2023.

The Airport is one of the components of Kabale Industrial Park (KIP) which will host an oil refinery and a terminal for the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (ECOP).

The Airport will facilitate the transportation of equipment and manpower for the Kabale industrial park. The Airport will be used to facilitate tourism and other businesses in the region.

Government has sunk billions of shillings in various infrastructural projects in the oil-rich Bunyoro region. Our focus is how to use that infrastructure to improve on the quality off life of the people.

The Petroleum Authority of Uganda is monitoring the ongoing resettlement action plan implementation activities of entitlements briefing and compensation agreements signing for the EACOP physically displaced and right of way( pipeline corridor) project affected persons. The exercise which commenced on 7th and 15th March in 2022 respectively. The exercise has covered Mubende, Kyankwanzi, Kyotera, and Gomba districts. The ongoing activities are currently in Lwengo, Sembabule, Kikuube and Kakumiro districts. A total of 3700 PAPs are targeted for both activities in the 10 districts traversed by EACOP.
The activities are being supported by local leaders and respective local governments technical officers.

Local Governments tipped to adopt Mediation as an alternative for dispute resolution.

Uganda local Governments have been tipped to adopt Mediation skills as a solution for managing Conflicts and rather avoid open Courts

Mediation is away of resolving misunderstandings that uses an Impertial Person to help team members to resolve their disagreements.

The call was made by Justice David Wangutusi during a 2day training on Mediation skills organised by the Uganda Judiciary.

The Judge further advised that some issues need to be harmonised behind the curtains of which open courts have no provision for that.

His Worship Kisawuzi Omar also said Mediation helps to maintain, improve or restore relationships between the aggrieved parties.

He added that Mediation is participatory were parties get an opportunity to present their cases in their own words and directly participates in the negotiations.

The Training was attended by District LCV Chairpersons, District CAOs , Probation Officers, Community Development Officers and Communication Officer.
