Tonight I attended the annual Scranton Tomorrow Holiday Open House at the historic Tripp House. So many people who make Scranton Tomorrow such a successful organization came together to enjoy some holiday cheer. Awards were presented to the deserving winners of the Downtown Window decorating contest sponsored by Scranton Tomorrow. It was an honor this past week to introduce noted author of Walkable City, How Downtowns are Saving America, One Step at a Time...Jeff Speck at a very special event at the U of S. The lecture entitled “A More a Walkable Scranton” was attended by more than 100 fellow Scrantonians and others that love our city. I can’t wait for the next phase which will be the implementation of some great ideas to make our downtown more walkable. @ Edward Leahy Hall

A local example of this is the ill conceived design of the proposed apartments to be built in the Kildare's parking lot in Downtown Scranton. A poor decision by some members of the Scranton Zoning Board of Appeals set into motion what will surely be sound Urban Planning gone awry.
