⚠️ Multiple weather concerns over the next 48 hours across our area.

⛈️ Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible across the region tomorrow (Monday) afternoon and evening. Large hail and damaging winds would be the primary threat. The highest threat of severe storms looks to be east of a Chadron to Arthur line. Severe storms are possible as far west to the Lusk-Torrington-Sidney areas.

🔥 A Red Flag WARNING for extreme fire danger is in effect for areas along and south of the North Platte River valley. S-SE winds gusting to 35 mph and low relative humidities will lead to extreme fire behavior. DO NOT BURN IN THESE AREAS!

And, finally (don’t shoot the messenger)…

💨 A High Wind WATCH is in effect from Tuesday morning through Tuesday evening for SE Wyoming and the southern NE panhandle. Wind gusts of 55-70 MPH are possible in these areas.

Continue to monitor the latest forecasts!

For those without power, including Bridgeport, Bayard, Gering and surrounding areas, PLAN for the worst and HOPE for the best!

The worst—power may be out for a couple of days, possibly longer. (It takes time and resources to repair this much damage.)

The best—power comes back on early!

Folks, this storm is not about over. It’s just getting started. This rapidly strengthening low pressure system will move slowly NE overnight putting our area in a wrap-around for heavy snow overnight. In areas of heavy snow, BLIZZARD conditions WILL occur!

ENJOY THE NEXT FEW DAYS! Temps will be very mild.

I'm keeping an eye on the weekend storm. A couple of different tracks are possible. A more northerly track would mean more rain/thunder for us, while a southerly track would mean more snow. Either way, measurable precipitation, much colder temps, and strong gusty winds are on the way for the weekend. Full forecast here: https://ruralradio.com/kneb-am/video/kneb-tv-weather-april-2-2024/

Bill Boyer says we could see three days straight of 70 degree temps, but then then a chance for some rain and snow showers for the weekend…
