City of Gering Officials would like to remind citizens who plan to discharge fireworks on New Year’s Eve to please make sure that discharged fireworks have cooled prior to placing them in a trash receptacle or dumpster to avoid starting a fire. Always have water readily available when discharging fireworks. Do not hold fireworks while discharging and adhere to time limitations as set forth by ordinance No. 2047. Fireworks may be discharged on New Year’s Eve until midnight.

The City would also like to remind citizens that it is their responsibility to clean up streets and sidewalks after discharging fireworks; everyone’s cooperation is greatly appreciated. The City also requests that citizens be mindful and respectful of people and animals that may have traumatic reactions to fireworks.

Public cooperation and consideration of others is greatly appreciated.

You can view the displays in the competition for both the Business and the Residential Divisions by visiting our YouTube channel. Just a heads up!

City of Gering Administrative Offices, the Police Administrative Office, the Gering Public Library and all City Departments will close at 12 noon on December 24, 2024 and will also be closed December 25, 2024 in observance of the Christmas holiday.
City of Gering offices will reopen on December 26, 2024 at 7:30 a.m.
