I’m nearing the end of an Audible book on the life of Walt Disney. You know there have been many books written about the man, and I could list dozens of quotes attributed to him, but these two seemed to be apropos in this age of swirling questions.
Walt Disney didn’t merely live for balance sheets and return on investments. He lived for the next generation. “A child is helpless in choosing what is to be engraved on his mind during the formative years. The awesome responsibility is assumed for better or worse by us as adults. Today, we are shapers of the world of tomorrow. That is the plain truth. There is no way we can duck the responsibility.”
Art Linkletter was a close friend of Walt’s and recalled when he had received a birthday gift from Disney one year. It was a photo of a small boy looking off in the distance. Across the bottom was an inscription: “Priorities – A hundred years from now, it will not matter what is in your bank account or what kind of car you drive. It will only matter that you made a difference in the life of a child.”
Your thoughts?
