When Sean Cummings’s beloved wife Cathy died earlier this year, he asked their friends and family to donate to paying off school lunch debt in lieu of flowers. He started with OKC schools, but has continued his mission of supporting families and public schools to rural Oklahoma.
Today, he visited a couple Beckham County schools to pay off some of that debt in his wife’s memory.
I knew Cathy, an ardent public schools supporter. Follow next week’s BCR for an expanded story.
If you would like to meet Sean personally, he is the owner and proprietor of Sean Cummings Irish Pub and Vito’s Italian Restaurant off NW Expressway in OKC on May. Both restaurants are in the same building and, together, offer an expansive menu. Live Celtic music is also regularly enjoyed.

Sayre Public Schools would like to say a big thank you to Sean Cummings, who, in honor of his late wife, Cathy Cummings, donated $1000 to pay off student lunch debt. He wanted to pay off the seniors and part of the juniors lunch debt. Thank you!

Local fire departments es**rt fallen firefighter Colter Vaught home.

Members of local fire departments will gather Friday at 2 pm to lay fallen volunteer fireman Colter Vaught to rest.

Vaught was credited by multiple local fire chiefs for saving thousands of acres of grassland, livestock, homes, lives, and countless dollars in income throughout his two decades of service to western Oklahoma.

UPDATE #2 BECKHAM COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE HAS 3 SUSPECTS IN CUSTODY AND UP TO 3 SUSPECTS STILL OUTSTANDING

September 14, 2023 at 8:05:15 AM CDT
Beckham County Sheriff’s Office has 3 suspects in custody at this time.
We believe we still have up to 3 suspects on foot in the area of E CR 1120 and N CR 1880.
All suspects this far have been hispanic and non English speaking.
If you see anybody walking or anything suspicious in the area of E CR 1120 and N CR 1880 call Beckham County Sheriff’s Office at 580-928-2121 or 911.

UPDATE #1 AUTHORITIES SEARCHING FOR SUSPECTS ON FOOT THAT WERE INVOLVED IN A HIGH SPEED PURSUIT

September 14, 2023 at 6:05:35 AM CDT
Special attention residents and land owners in the area of E CR 1120 and N CR 1880
Beckham County deputies have 1 hispanic male in custody at this time.
There were believed to be 5 more occupants in the vehicle that are on foot.
All suspects are possibly hispanic and dressed in black.
Do not pick up any hitchhikers. Do not approach any persons on foot or on your property.
We do not have information that the suspects are armed at this time but we urge you to use caution.
If you see anybody walking contact Law Enforcement immediately at 580-928-2121 or 911.
