Over the weekend, OU Nightly Tracking the Storm was awarded a Collegiate Emmy, referred to formally as a Student Production Award. I am honored to have been a part of a team that worked so hard to bring accurate and timely information about severe weather to the OU and Norman community. Last February, OU Nightly went “wall to wall” for severe weather for the first time and again a few months later in April. Our severe weather special highlighted that coverage and also gave viewers a chance to learn about types of severe weather, research being done and ways to stay safe.

Thank you to the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for this honor and thank you to the whole team who worked so hard on this special.

Last Thursday, WJCL News partnered with America's Second Harvest Of Coastal Ga to collect donations for our Turkey Drive 22. Over 1,200 turkeys were donated and those birds will help feed local families in need this Thanksgiving.

The morning was filled with fun and familiar faces as the WJCL 22 team was out at the Pooler Piggly Wiggly from 4:30am-7pm. It was a wonderful day and great way to meet so many of our amazing viewers!

I am delighted to announce that after graduation, I will be joining the WJCL News weather team as a weekend meteorologist! I have dreamed of becoming a meteorologist since I was a kid and I’m so excited to forecast for the Savannah, GA area!

Last night OU Nightly made history as we did LIVE continuous severe weather coverage for over 3 hours specifically focused on informing the OU campus and surrounding Norman area.
