Ashley Burger and Darryl Bowerman started this company in 2015, working out of a spare room in their home. It was something fun to do on weekends or free evenings, originally teaching dance lessons together in their living room, or rent space at local studios and establishments. Little did we know what it would grow to be!
After teaching small groups and gigs around the EUP, they decided to start offering ASAO Disc Jockey and Event Coordination services. What started as something fun to do with friends and family quickly gained popularity and grew into a formal operation! Together they are a dynamic duo that services a wide variety of events.
From there, Ashley opted to open the ASAO Dance studio. Thanks to guidance from Les Townsend, Ashley and Darryl were able to make the upstairs area of Island Books and Crafts a new home for 150 dancers (as of 2020). Pickford Public Schools administration team has graciously worked with us to offer site classes in the schools for 4 consecutive seasons, as well as hosting a variety of shows for dance families to enjoy!
As entrepreneurial adventures go, they decided to add an ASAO Boutique to the repertoire to service dancers of Sault Ste. Marie and surrounding areas. From leotards to tights, dance shoes of every style, all sorts of bottoms, costumes, and ASAO themed apparel, this is a one-stop-shop for anything a dancer may need!
