I became a doula because of my sisters being there for me during the birth of my oldest. I can't imagine doing it without having someone there giving be positions to try and giving counter pressure. We had taken classes through the hospital and thought we were prepared. That's when my sister said, "you know there are people that do this right?" What? I had no idea. That comment inspired me to start this journey.
My biggest passion is not only supporting moms with what they are wanting out of their birth and postpartum but helping their partner be more involved. I love teaching them things they can do to support mom during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. I want the parents to remember their experience feeling they were informed and supported throughout.
I love this work so much that I just opened The Utah Birth Place in Provo. My goal is to have a place where families can go to find everything they need to have an amazing journey through pregnancy, and beyond. It's more than just a birth center.
