The Ancient Agora is the other major archeological site of Athens. In ancient Greek cities, an Agora was an open space serving as an assembly area and a place for commercial, civic, social, and religious activities.

Let's start our tour of Athens with a visit to the Acropolis, which means "High City", and includes the temples of the most important gods for the Athenians. It is visible from almost everywhere in Athens. Can you imagine how a person felt 2,500 years ago looking up to those stunning marble temples where the priests conversed with the gods?

While in Inverness, we booked a day trip to the famous Isle of Skye. Our expectations were very high, but in the end, we felt disappointed. Not from the Island of course, but from the tour. More details in the captions under each photo.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 To go to Scotland and not explore the Great Outdoors and the Highlands does not seem right! We started doing that while in Glasgow by booking a day trip.

Because we don’t like taking pictures from a moving car, there is one thing that we really can't show you.

The Scottish Heather was blooming so beautifully! Does somebody have a picture or more to add to the story?

This is our last set of pictures from Glasgow. We rented bikes to get from our Airbnb to the Riverside Museum, then walked to Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum and the University.

After our "small" pickpocketing incident in Athens, let's "get back" to Scotland and take some time to enjoy the beautiful Glasgow Cathedral and as a bonus the nearby Necropolis. The building of the cathedral began in 1136 and took centuries to finish. However, much of the present cathedral dates from a major rebuilding in the 13th century, hence the Gothic architecture.

Meanwhile, in Athens, somebody stole my new phone! 😭 It was making great pictures!

We used public transportation to get to a meeting point for a day trip (the most expensive trolley ride in my life). A few minutes after we left the trolley, my watch warned me that my phone was not nearby, and that was that!

Has anybody experienced something like that? I know it is common, especially in some big cities, but it never happened to me, and I didn't notice anything wrong while in the trolley. 😞

Later, Stan (my emergency contact) received multiple messages from "pretend Apple" announcing my phone was found, but to see it, I have to provide my password. Instead, we went to the police to file a report and then submitted an insurance claim.

The moral of the story is about safekeeping, backups, fraud, and insurance 😉

P.S. I'm better now, see you tomorrow at Glasgow Cathedral! 😉

By following Glasgow's mural trail we not only enjoyed great Art but also got off the beaten track and explored the hidden corners of the city. Oh, and yeah, we also played "hide and seek" with some of the murals. 😅

We weren’t able to find a reasonably priced Airbnb in Edinburgh, so we spent the first three weeks of our Scotland trip in Glasgow. It was love at first sight. The architecture, the vibrant look & feel, and on top of that the people are kind and welcoming (as everywhere in Scotland). We will certainly miss it and think of our time there often. 🥰

On our Day 3 in Edinburgh, we saw Scott Monument, Princes Street Garden, Dean Village, and then we went "off the beaten track" for about 10 kilometers to see Trip Advisor's number one attraction for Edinburgh, the Royal Yacht Britannia. Enjoy! 🥰

The other must-see in Sintra 🇵🇹 is the National Palace of Pena, the jewel in the crown of Ferdinand II, the “Аrtist Кing”. If you plan to visit, don't forget to leave 2 hours for the enchanted forest around the Palace. 🌳🦌
