Of the estimated 29 billion gallons of water used daily by households in the US, nearly 9 billion gallons, or 30 percent, is devoted to outdoor water use. In the hot summer months, a household's outdoor water use can be as high as 70 percent!!

Here's some tips for staying Water Wise Outside:

1) Water in cooler evenings so the ground can absorb more water before it evaporates.

2) Avoid Runoff – set sprinklers to cover only the lawn and plant areas. Use a spray nozzel with an off setting.

3) Mulch around plants and trees to retain moisture and prevent weeds. 🌳🌻

4) Use drip and other low-flow irrigation devices.💧

5) Sweep driveways, sidewalks, and steps rather than hosing off. 🧹

6) Wash the car with water from a bucket, or better yet, use a commercial car wash that recycles water. 🚗

7) If you have a pool, use a cover to reduce evaporation when the pool is not being used. 🏊
