An Announcement from Iron Maiden

As The Future Past Tour concludes after 81 shows to over 1.4 million fans, from Ljubljana to the Coachella Valley and from Western Australia to Sao Paulo, Iron Maiden are delighted to announce that stepping in behind the kit for 2025 is a name familiar to many of our fans – Simon Dawson, a former session drummer and Steve’s rhythm section partner of the past 12 years with British Lion. A native of Suffolk, England, Simon first teamed up with Steve Harris back in 2012. He debuted on three tracks on the first British Lion album and all of the second critically acclaimed ‘The Burning’, plus the many subsequent tours in the US, UK, Europe, Australia, Japan, New Zealand &, most recently, both Mexico and South America.

Iron Maiden celebrate their 50th Anniversary next year with The Run For Your Lives Tour starting in Budapest on May 27th.

In what is arguably the biggest headline news yet concerning the controversial relationship between rock music and A.I, Jake Hout has quit as Dead Boys vocalist over the proposed use of A.I on a new Dead Boys album. Hout stated that the band and record label (Cleopatra Records) alike wanted to use his voice as a "template" for A.I generated vocals that would replicate those of original singer, Stiv Bators, for use on the album. Bators was a founding member of Dead Boys and an icon of the punk scene in the United States, but tragically died in 1990 aged just 40.

Hout said the following in a Facebook post that confirmed his departure:
"It is with a heart shot full of led that I’m forced to announce that I am NO LONGER the singer of DEAD BOYS! Due to unreconcilable artistic differences with Cleopatra Records I must recuse myself. They intend to put out a record with a fakeass robot A.I. Stiv Bators voice on it! They wanted my voice to be the template for the fake robo-Stiv voice and I absolutely can NOT do that. It’s against my religion. Its heartless plagiarism of my own Guardian Angel and it can absolutely NOT happen."

Hout followed this statement with another post earlier today, which added further details to the story. Despite being assured by lead guitarist, Cheetah Chrome, that the album would not include A.I generated Stiv vocals, the first line of the contract from Cleopatra Records allegedly read:
“Artists have agreed that such Performances shall be Vocal performances utilizing AI technologies for purposes of creating works based on the original voice of Stiv Bators, to be used on Company’s master recordings of the songs.”

Since the contract was pitched in August, Hout claims that he warned Cheetah on a "daily" basis that he would "quit publicly" if the contract was not amended. With the label and remaining original members refusing to budge, Hout made an immediate exit. Dead Boys themselves are yet to release a statement regarding the departure of Hout or their attempts to incorporate A.I into a new album.
