Reminiscing about my time in Japan during the month of November last year. Can’t believe it’s been one year. What a total dream it was to be in Kyoto during the peak fall colors. I’m missing the complete attention to detail and beauty, the extraordinary gardens, the incredible flavors of persimmon, yuzu, herbs, rice and pizza dough. The humble, simple perfection of Kyoto and monk!

Our Story

We’re all about bringing the filmmaker’s creative talents to nonfiction and scripted projects alike and a holistic approach that informs the work from casting, to production, to post.

Our collective personality is unlike any other production company in the world. We began, in 1995, with one idea: a roster of elite award-winning documentary directors supported by an innovative production staff, formed in order to take a revolutionary approach to commercial documentary projects. In the years since, Nonfiction’s directors have created uniquely compelling commercials, complex branding campaigns, episodic series, branded content, narrative features and, of course, creative documentaries.

The filmmakers at Nonfiction are undisputedly some of the most respected documentary filmmakers in the world. And Nonfiction is the premiere production company bringing their considerable talents to projects for advertisers.

The filmmakers at Nonfiction have won a plethora of awards and accolades including multiple Academy Awards and nominations, numerous awards from the Sundance Film Festival and the Directors Guild of America, hundreds of National and International Best Films of the Year Critics Lists, and hundreds of other awards for their documentary film work including those from: American Film Institute, American Society of Cinematographers, Aspen Film Festival, Boston Society of Film Critics, Broadcast Film Critics Association, Cracow Film Festival, Chicago International Film Festival, Chicago Film Critics, Denver International Film Festival, Detroit Film Critic Society, Directors View Film Festival, Double Take Documentary Film Festival, Emmy Awards, Gracie Allen Awards, Grammy Awards, Gotham Independent Film, Hamptons Film Festival, Humanitas Prize, Image Awards, Hot Docs, Independent Spirit Awards, International Documentary Association, Kansas City Film Festival, Los Angeles Film Critics, MTV Movie Awards, Nantucket Film Festival, National Board of Review, Newport Film Festival, National Society of Film Critics, New York Film Critics Circle, Peabody Awards, Philadelphia Film Festival, Prix Italia Awards, Sarasota Film Festival, Satellite Awards, Shorts International Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival, Vancouver International Film Festival, Woodstock Film Festival and the Writers Guild of America.
