LAMP [Los Angeles Music Project]

Helmed by Alex Slater, Randall Bass and Joshua Brooks, the Los Angeles Music Project—LAMP—has grown from a creative think tank into a multi-faceted collective. The group produces highly curated music content on their digital platform, execute immersive experiential events supplemented with custom visuals, and nurture budding artist projects.

With a goal of elevating the quality of music writers, educating emerging DJs and Producers and highlighting a broad range of artists and labels who opt for a community effort angle on music content, LAMP's online platform provides a finger-on-the-pulse approach to its daily audio experiences, adding trending value to the expansive underground house music scene—and the plentiful news it generates daily—with categories and angles such as track of the day spotlights, a long-standing weekly mix series and premiere features as hooks that draw in a growing readership.

Furthermore, LAMP’s team of contributors create original art to accompany releases, actively engage in social media-ing, work with talented writers and collaborate with like-minded media outlets and event-driven partners; featured artists consistently embark on more valuable efforts—rather than just chasing play counts—through IRL networking opportunities and exposure.

LAMP has reached a maturation point that now sees the founders setting their sights on wider distribution aimed at elevating the music they are stirred by: The formation of a newly launched record label, PUZL Records last year. After a series of successful releases in 2016 and 2017, the collective already have more that are set in motion, with an intention of continuing to assemble cohesive pieces of music into EPs, LPs and albums that represent a body of work each artist can be proud of.

The succession into PUZL Records is an impressive landmark for the four-year-old collective. While the record label will continue to develop and sign artists in the house music genre, the shift to talent acquisitions in the broader spectrum of electronic genres has added more tiers to label endeavors; the highly successful LAMP events draw in loyal attendees and will now cultivate further experiences in various music genres. It’s the action of working as a unit that moves LAMP to thoughtfully support its artists and treat them as family. One common ground keeps their passion well-lit: educating and growing within musically-charged environments.
